Hello everyone :

I have the rear left Bilstein shock of my 89 C4 leaking. Does anyone know if the Bilstein lifetime warranty will cover this?.

Does anyone know if Koni shocks for an 1965 to 1982 Corvette will fit my 1989? www.c4dhr.com has them on sale for cheep.

If they will not fit, are KYB shocks any good?

I have an 1989 C4 with the z-51 option

Thanks boyz

As I understand it, the Bilstein shocks are designed to have seepage. Something like 10% of their oil volume is intended to seep out over their lifespan.

So unless the shocks have actually drained out, it may be normal.

Warranty doesnt cover the factory bilsteins, only ones you buy from them.

Sounds like its time for you to buy some new ones. KYBs from the midyear/sharks wont work, wrong geometry.

But KYBs themselves are pretty good.

Just FYI Bilsteins are designed to leak a small amount of fluid. Check out the web site for info. Can you take a snap shot of it and post it?
Anyways, if you have high miles it would not hurt to replace them.
KYB are fine for daily and spirited street driving. Make sure you match the shock to the Z51 springs though.
You would be better off with Koni or Bilsteins if you are serious doing open track or autocross.

Wet shocks

The service manual says wet is OK. Drip is time to replace. Sounds crudely basic but that's what it says.
Good luck

That's right seep OK, a drop it's hosed.
They will rebuild them for about 1/2 price of new.
check their web page.

If you go to www.lastdetail.com, you can buy them fairly cheap. I just bought 4 new ones for my 96 w/o Z51 for 70 a piece.
