Bloomington Gold Poster Preservation?

Has anyone done anything to seal up their posters yet???
Yes, mine has been laminated. Came out perfect. All except for the one flaw due to it being rolled with the printed side out. That was how I got it in Bloomington.

Just as an FYI - You NEVER roll an unlaminated poster with the printed side facing out. You do roll it that way once laminated. That's from the sign shop expert... a.k.a. girlfriend.

Kevin, roughly what would the retail cost be on this to do it?
Thanks :m

Sorry Chris but I don't know. They are an in house shop that is part of a company that does signs for trade shows and not retail.

I emailed the local (local...and it's still an hour away!!!) Sign-A-Rama about having my poster laminated. This is their reply.....

Laminating will help preserve, but I am told the discoloration is due to the light. We can laminate for $5.50 per sq. ft.
What do you guys think?? If the browning/fading is due to light then there isn't much to do about it if you're going to display it.

Stay away... they don't know what they are talking about. If they do it right they should be using laminate with UV protection. The poster can't brown or yellow if it is sealed from the air. It might fade over time if you hang it in a window where it would get direct sunlight. If done properly it will last a lot longer than any of us...

I found a shop near my office that will laminate the poster for $2.50 sq/ft.
They do maps, construction blue prints and the like. They showed me examples of their work. Very nice quality.
Dropping mine off tomorrow or Monday.

Got my Bloomington poster back today from the shop that did the lamination. Was only $47.50. Poster looks great, can't wait to get it hung up on the wall.

Mark, Good deal :upthumbs

If I cannot find a local shop - maybe I will take a drive up to your place to have them do it - maybe while I wait???? Hopefully lamination dosen't take that long (w/ appointment)
Thanks for the info :w

Mark - That is key - All they are, is blueprints - I just found a set of prints at my house that were 5 years old - you could BARELY read them :eek
They were stored in a cool dry room -
Good thing I had a scan and print copy of the same for backup - as it was rather important stuff ;)

I take it, those were not laminated?
The shop I used: Johnson Imaging Systems, Inc.

Mark, That is correct - it was a set of contracts drafted on "blueprint paper" - not laminated...

I was 1/2 way to Camp Hill today, I should have packed the posters and dropped in for a late lunch :beer
