I need opinions on putting a bra on my gal when out for drives. Can anyone share the pros and cons of these contraptions, or which one fits best!!!

Thanks

Chris

That completely depends on how hot she is... :naughty:  ;LOL

Just my opinion, but I've always been a fan of the braless look. I've heard of bras rubbing and wearing away the paint/clear coat. Plus you have to attach them somehow--either with straps or velcro, and I'd think the velcro attachment would be on there forever once you put it on. I'd go for the braless look--you're gonna give her a bath afterwards anyway, so it's not that much more to pay attention to the front too. Andy

One came with my car...

I used it for the trip to Auburn Indiana for the CAC Cruisefest..my sig pic has a shot of it arriving at the Inn....that is the only time i have put one on her. I am not crazy about the look on my car....however there are some fantastic bra's for the C-5's...including matching mirrior covers, holes cut out for the nose emblem...so its personal choice...and depending on the year and if your just protecting it from road debris.
My 2 cents ...

Clear, no question

Lots on this, if you search, above.

After seeing the edge erosion rom a car cover, I never intend to use a bra (on the car, either).

There are some GREAT clear bras (might be TM) that car be removed. We did this to our new BMW and it is virtually invisible on this black car, most of the time. Grit adheres and wax can leave a white trace along the edges, as anywhere else. Both are easily removed. We have covered as much of the car with frontal exposure as possible, including the headlight lenses.

Ensure you go to an experienced installer as there is some art to stretching the plastic sheeting, even if expertly cut. Our guy downloads (what he found to be the best template) each time, for each install, and his computer laser cuts the pattern. An error requires another download and the associated fee.

The sheeting works, should be waxed when the car is and has stopped erosion but not a large, kicked-up rock, which also gouged the windshield. The impacted plastic has a small scratch; the paint below, a small dent. It was a BIG rock, I could not dodge.

No stretch marks, either. :w

Whoa-- I thought this was a naughty post...

RATS -- FOILED AGAIN......Seriously though-

I wouldn't use one. I think they are more trouble than they are worth- condensation, paint rub, and sun fade.

Depends

I have a Colgan that fits perfectly, allows for the hood to open and lights to raise. It is a 30 minute PITA to put on, 5 minutes to remove. Very well padded and no damage or ill effects so far. It looks cheesy with the big honkin' deflectors, but they work on saving the windshield at high speed.

I drive very differently with it on there for longer road trips, not local use. The highway runs at 80+ mph pepper the front if you are flowing in the left lane or following vette buddies around the hills and dales. I let 'er rip with it on.

It will mess up your paint if you leave it on when wet or in the sun all the time. Otherwise it's a good highway condom for long expressway blasts that save 8 or 10 rock chips. So my answer is yes and no.

Bras belong on women and even then on occasion I have mixed feelings...

I agree with whalepirot on the clear covers that are available on the market, but I think they are around $600 installed. My son has it on his yellow Z06 and if you don't know to look for it, it's practically invisible.

He used a regular type bra on his 84 when we were at the Black Hills event several years ago. We were going to Yellowstone with a group of Vettes from California and when we hit the Montana line, gas pedals went down.

At 110mph, the bra flew overhead. A couple of slight scuffs in the paint and a long walk back to get the bra, but other than that, the bra saved the paint on a long trip that had lots of rocks flipping up from oncoming cars.

Basically, use one if you are concerned about your paint when doing some long distance driving or you know you are going to be in an area with lots of road debris.

I have a CoverCraft bra and I use it for long roadtrips. I put on before I leave, and I take it off when I get to my destination.

The bra will not damage the paint if proper prep work is done.
  1. Make sure the car is CLEAN before you put it on. Preferably, maybe a day or two after a nice wax has been applied.
  2. Don't take the bra right out of the box and on to the car. Leave it out in the warm sun for an hour or so. This will give it a chance to breathe and loosen up. It'll be more "elastic" for a better fit.
  3. Take your time putting it on. Do some test fits before you apply the velcro tack strips that help secure it in place.
  4. It helps to have a second set of hands available so you can do a better job of evenly stretching it across the car.
As long as it's applied properly, you shouldn't have to worry about it flying off at high speeds. Maybe cheap ones do that or ones that haven't been applied correctly, but there was no way mine was budging once I had it on the car. It was skin tight, as it should be.

-let's be honest about this...

Well, I also have a Bra and use it nightly driving home, --I put on before I leave, and I take it off when I get to my destination, ---so that my wife doesen't catch me!! ;LOL :eyerole But seriously, why not make one of very heavy gauge Transparent/vinyl-plastic, whereby your car's nose is protected yet it would not be noticable...!!! ~Bob vH :confused
