C-4 tires

Very good to hear. There a 2 or 3 of us still willing to pay for American quality. It is hard to be a smart consumer, and getting harder.

Actually....there must be more than a 2 or 3 as the F1 GS-D3 seems to be selling pretty well to Corvette owners, particularly C4 people. It's a significant improvement in handling, ride and noise over the O.E. tire on a 93, the GS-C which, BTW, was not available in the EMT version that year.

Yeah, F1 GS-D3s can't beat the price of a Kumho, Falken or a Hankok (the OE tire on Chevy's Daewoo-built "Aveo" for God's sake) but for the extra money you get perhaps the best tire in the ultra-performance, replacement tire market which is not a racing-oriented product.

I run F1 GS-D3s on three cars, my daily driver Chevy Camaro, and then, swapping back and forth between my 71 BB and my 95 ZR-1 (both use the same wheels).

It's a great tire. Good handing. Good noise characteristics.

If I may add just a few more comments:

I never knew the stock exhaust actually makes a nice rumble! The new tires are absolutely so quiet, it's like a different car. Incredible smooth riding too.

The looks from the rear - awesome! - :w OK I'll stop now.

Does anybody know of a source for buying the original Eagle GSC's (non-runflat type) in the 285/40/R17 size? Neither Eckler's, Mid America, Tire Rack, etc. have it anymore.

I know the contemporary Eagle F1 FS-D3's are a better tire, but I'm trying to keep my '93 as original looking as possible and the new V-type treads are a dead give-away.

Rod,

I went with the Pirelli Pzero's & luv 'em! They are quiet & ride great. GY's may be good , but I'll buy another set of Pirelli's!

My 93 has only 17,000 miles on it but the tires are showing some slight checking. The tires are Goodyear Eagles originals, at about $350.00 per, they must be run flats. What would be a good replacment tire besides the Eagle?
I see other tires the same sizes are around $200.00. Good ride and quite ride are important to all of us i guess, any ideas for me?

I replaced the falkens that were on my vette when I bought it with new Falkens. They're rated for 40K miles. Mine had over 60 and still had enough tread left to sell on e-bay. I was very impressed with the tread life. And they handled a "Tail of the Dragon" run very nicely. Best part was the price.....$145.00 per

I don't drive my 94 "hard" but I have to say I really like the Falkens I put on. They seem to have much better ride than the GSC's they replaced and I can hear my exhaust now. I got for $137/tire, mounted, balanced and installed.

:w

Just put on my KWDS on my LT4 still had the original tires with only 15K miles on them(someone told me they are sellable for Competition they do not make them any more and you need original tires for a 100 point car???) The BF's are a world difference grab and corner GREAT! But the best is the price , some say they would take the BF's over the Goodyears even if the were the same price.
