Looks very nice.Did you ever get the sag sanded out with out breaking through?
Yes I did get the sags out but I decided to reshoot the panel anyway as it seemed easier than all the finish sanding and polishing I would have had to do.
The panel came out very nice.
I still have 2 more minor sags that are hard to see and now that I have some experience at the technique I think it will be easy to get them out but for now I am going to leave them. thanks for all your help.

There are in some posts but here is one from a while back. (Sept 1969) So here is an original faded photo and the same one photo shopped to correct color. Quite a difference in the old color.

BTW
That '62 by the garage is a Bel Air Bubbletop.

Tom
Thanks for posting. Love those tail lights. Is that Panama Yellow?

I was told by the guy I bought it from that the color was '68 Safari Yellow. I see it's code 984 just like the '66-'67 Sunfire yellow. '58 Panama was brighter. I like them both and also the '59 Classic Cream which was about the same pale yellow as Parkay margerine. It wasn't the best paint job and once I started getting into a few areas for repairs there was no turning back. Over the original black was red, white, red again, dark green and the yellow plus primers. All this in just 10 years. It's been naked since 1971 except for areas I repaired and primed.

I think my 61 was originally white with silver coves. There was white under the dash pad by the windshield, in the trunk, around the fiberglass cover that goes over the gas tank and in other nooks a crannies. My past colors have been most recently, white, red, copper and then the original white.

Did you ever check behind the passenger (right) seat on the bulk-head to see if the color was written in crayon? I scraped mine to find the word silver in green crayon.

Ray
Ray, I did check and there was something written in green crayon but all I could make of it was "H" "T" I had a Vette restoration guy look at as he had seen many others and he could't make it out. Someone here told me it may have meant hardtop but I don't know. I think I have a picture of it somewhere. I left it and primed over it. Maybe the next guy that restores it will figure it out. :)

Gary whats the latest,Did you get any chrome peices on it?

Also will you be done for carlilse and did you have plans for being there?

Larry, My priority right now is to get the body on. I am just giving the chassis a once over before dropping the body. I checked every nut & bolt, checked all suspension parts, placed my initial shims at each location and taped them in place with masking tape. I have already broken in the new motor. I hope to do the body drop tomorrow night with the help of my son. I am going to do my best to be at Carlisle. Problem for me is it falls the same time as my family's annual get together which I host. I have 7 siblings (makes scheduling difficult) and lots of little nephews and nieces who look forward to our outing. I am trying to move it up to the beginning of August this year specifically so I can make Carlisle.

Allthough Mine is not a stock frame,I have mine on and off so many times I NO longer have any fear of handeling the car to go on ond off the frame. how are you attaching the car to you lift?

I have been using Long philiph head screw drivers to use as drift pins once I get close to landing.I leave 2 in the trunk,I leave 2 inside the car where I can reach over the door to set the outer ones behind the seats,Once I have the srew drivers set in the body down thru into the frame(the lenght of the screw driver shaft is about 12") I then put my attention toward landing the front mount.Gradually slowly I am lowering the car, once the car has finally landed on the frame,I use a drift pin (that goes from thin to thick real fast) I pull 3 of my screw driver out except one.and set my back corner first then work foward.Best of luck and be safe.

Take the time to explain to your son he only gets one set of fingers and not to put them in any pinch points. the worst part I think of dropping the body is trying to controll the car from swinging ,and also lifting it evenly.Try the foam tape in the doors, but use low stick tape as a base,

I be looking foward to tomorow nights description from you on how well things went

Looks very nice. Thank you for the inspiration! Always nice to see someone making forward progress! My 1960 is getting closer to painting, there is still hope! As soon as I find the correct hood for my 1960, we will be on the home stretch! There must be a correct hood out there for me somewhere! I have two of the first design 1959-1960 hoods, I need a second design hood! (The one that has the relief area across the front to clear the top tank radiator support!)
The search is on! Keep those pictures coming!

Hey Greg do the 61 62 hoods also have that same relief you're looking for?

Yes they do! The only difference between the 61-62 hood and the 1960 hood that I am looking for is the 61-62 hood also has the small cutout area in the middle. It has been suggested to me to find a 61-61 hood and fill in the center area. For now I am still looking for the correct one, but it may come to that!

Thats interesting. I didn't know there was that subtle difference.
