C2 big block measurement needed.

My chassis and body are still apart, so I need a measurement please.

What is the exact distance between the center point (let's use the air cleaner hold down threaded rod and wing nut) of the carb back to the firewall (the vertical flat area just above the distributor cap and just below the hood)?

13" exactly from the center of the wing nut to the vertical part of the hood surround (firewall's a little tough to get a straight line to).

Is this what you needed?

I posted here since you guys have already started measuring a Big Block.

I am going to install a Big Block in my 78 Vette, and need to find out how close the valve cover will be to my power brake booster.

So, I need to find out the distance from where you measured for 67HEAVEN, but to the top edge of the valve cover on the exhaust side.

I really appreciate it!

You want a straight line to the valve cover (it will be a close approximation) ?

PS-it is about 8" to the inner edge of the valve cover and 12" to the outer edge from the center of the wing nut. The driver side valve cover is recessed at the rear to allow room (???) for the power brake booster...don't know about a 78 booster though.

Yes, that would be great!

I just want to get an approximate idea of how close the valve cover will be to the brake booster. If you could measure (approx is OK) from the air cleaner wing nut to the outer edge of the valve cover, I would really appreciate it!

I am toying with the idea of installing the hydra-boost for my brakes, but if I can put that off for a while, then I can get the Vette back on the road sooner.

BTW, My dream Vette is still a Big Block C2...hopefully one day I will own one!
