C2 periodic bump when driving?

ah, that explains it....when I ordered my shims I was told to also order the long cotter pin so I did. When I went to pick the car up after the alignment the shop told me they didn't install the pin because my car didn't have the holes in the frame and they weren't comfortable drilling holes in my car (makes sense - most classic car owners wouldn't want shops to start just drilling holes everywhere).
I just hope without the cotter pin my shims don't fall out again.
 
It's no longer a question of shims, most were missing. shims have been replaced (both sides of bushings on each trail arm). Lesson learned from it all. I ordered a shim kit from Paragon. I noted before ordering that there was two different styles; one has holes on each end and the other opened on one end with a hold at the other. I chose the one with two holes. Bad choice! The mechanic struggled to remove the bolt and insert the shims then returning the bolt. He uttered a few choice words about my shims, then retrieved leftover shims from another job which were opened before tackling the opposite side trailing arm. The second alignment went much smoother. No more knocking on turns and the car feels much tighter. Thank you all for the advise. Bill

I'll accept blame on the shims you ordered. I didn't which which ones either and somebody ( i forget who) told me to order the open ended ones or my mechanic would have a number of choice words to say (which yours did!!).
I should have mentioned that but by the time I remembered I saw your previous post that you already ordered them.
Godd to hear the shims did the job though and solved your problem.

Alls well that ends well. The car was fixed, the mechanic got paid, and I'm smiling knowing I'm not gonna hear that suspicious noise anymore. Thanks so much for your help, Barry. Bill
