Getting my 1985 ready for summer. Plugs, distributer cap, rotor, plug wires and coil. I've done this before on other chevys but never the vette. After I removed the shield from the back of the TPI unit I noticed that the distrubuter is partly tucked under the cowl. Are there any tricks to getting the retainer ring which holds the plug wires off the top of the distributer?
I know this is a pretty straight forward job but before I start digging in I thought I'd see if anyone had some advice. The GM service manual is little help

The plate over the distributor is removed from the plenum, then the distributor can be removed from the engine with no problem. Same as any small block. :CAC

Thanks for the response Ken. The more I looked at it the simpler it got. It's really not much different than my 85 ElCamino. Just a lot more intimidating
