C5 2002 electrical problems HELP!!

I have a 2002 silver convertible with 60,000 miles.Just bought her a few months ago,last week,the service traction,service active handling,and service abs warnings appeared.They were intemittent(coming on every other day) and now they are solid on.I've heard everything from disconnect the battery,to possible expensive computer modules,any help is greatly appreciated.--Tony

HI there,

First start by getting any codes out of the TCS or PCM from the DIC>.

The procedure is at a sticky at the top of the c5 section.

Then post them here.

I had this problem too

Try this. Start the car and make sure the problem is still present. Open the driver side door. There is a rubber conduit between the door and the body, and some wires running through that from the door to the chasis. If you push on the conduit you will feel the wires inside. Move the wires around and see if the problem goes away.

If it does, you have a short there. I found one of the wires had a plastic cover that was split and letting the wire ground against the chasis. You can see the wires if you pull the conduit off the body. You can also pull the wires out of the chasis to inspect them. I could not fix them this way though. Instead I had to remove a cover in the driver's foot area and pull the wires through there to fix the problem. I also found one of the wires had a poor connection to the plug.

After doing this, my problem went away.

By the way, the passenger door has a similar setup, so if the problem is not on the driver side, you could check the passenger side.

I have the same issue in an 04 coupe. 50 miles after doing the rear brake pads. First intermittent, noticed after taking a hard r corner, now permanent. Can any thing from doing a brake job cause this ?:crazy

Get the codes and then we can give you FACTS about how to fix your issue.

Hi there,

Your B2860 has to do with the position sensor in your telescopic steering column. It may not be moving the way it should or not remembering the position you like when the memory setting is selected.

The C1214 is for the power relay within your EBTCM that controls your brakes/traction control and the active handling.

You will have to either replace that module or get it repaired.

Thanks, still under extended warantee, guess I'll check to see if anything else needs fixin while it is in. Just wierd it happened right after I did my rear brakes. :crazy
