Hello all, I'm new to this forum and to the corvette world actually. i recently bought a used vette from a gent here in town hes a pretty straight shooter and told me about the problems he had with it. but i digress, the vette is a c6 and it cranks for a period of time that makes me cringe if you let it ride out the crank til it turns over. you can bypass this issue by either letting it crank for a short second and stopping it then pushing the button again (starts right up), then the other option is to press the button when i don't have the clutch depressed and i can hear the pump prime or purge or whatever it does, and the car will start right up. i have no issues driving it at all, although i did notice the engine right after start up it will have a idle similar to a carb car on a cold day (almost like the rpm's are going up then down and the car sounds it). but no noticeable stalling. any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Andric, First off Welcome to CAC!:w I think, in order to help our troubleshooters, we need a little more information. The year, model (base/Z06), transmission (manual I'm guessing), mileage and modifications done, would probably help our guys some in determining your problem.

I'm no mechanic, but do know that certain things must exist in order for the engine to fire. The first thing off the top of my head says fuel pressure might be the issue. Hopefully some of our "real" mechanics will stop in here soon and give you some direction.

Yes it's a manual base model, no modifications that are notably important on the fuel line although I will say that the clutch was swapped out for the zo6 clutch (hard to get used to but it's nicer when you get the hang of it). All other mods were purely cosmetic.

Sometimes, long cranking time is indicative of a fuel supply system problem.

Run the fuel pressure tests in the Factory Service Manual and report the results in a post to this thread.
