Callaway C8 in Playboy June 1996?!

A spectacular color, Old Lyme Green, that has to be seen in person to be appreciated. This car was the Playboy Magazine photo car 6/96. OZ chrome Monte Carlo wheels. 400hp SuperNatural, 6 speed, very low miles.

Anybody got a stack of 10 year old Playboys? :ugh I have no earthly idea which car it is they are describing.

Playboy also featured a white 1988 convertible Corvette Callaway - sorry though, I have not seen either article...

I found the issue I decribed above on a website for sale and requested images of the Callaway... the description says "water damage" on the cover... rrrrright. :ugh

All I see is small boxes with a red X. Right clicked to show pictures still red X. Shopview has a Lime Green Callaway and it looks New.

Yeah, the pictures don't work, which is why I made this topic. The car is a Callaway C8 based off a Camaro, not a Corvette, and I've never seen pictures of it.

I'm sorry to report that I was unable to secure a July 1996 issue from the garage.

The good news is that I seem to have every other issue from that year. I know I have July somewhere, it's just a matter of finding it. I don't know when I'll be able to search my other cache since it's a county north of here, a couple hundred miles away.

I'll let you know when I run across it.

I think it is July we're searching for. The last page of the mag refers to what's coming up in the next month's issue. June refers to "fast things" like jet boats and roller blades? in the July issue. I'm sure what you're looking for is included in that article.

If nothing else, we have a better idea about where to look. I'm still looking around the garage, I know I have that issue somewhere.

I can report to you with complete confidence that it is a mystery. I looked through a July '96 Playboy last night and there is no trace of the Callaway in question. I looked three times, just to be sure. Nothing.

I'm very curious why the owner of the car would say that it was in that issue when it was not. They HAD to just mess up the date; the owner couldn't have just made it up... surely...

There has to be only one Old Lyme Green C8 since (I believe) that paint color cost extra. Plus I've never seen pictures of the car besides what is on the "brochure" on ebay.

I looked through our magazine archives and see there was article in Playboy Feb. '96 called Rapid Transit which featured a green C8. Our copy seems to have been checked out of our library and never returned....hum!
