Hope everything goes well whether you rebuild or replace. I wanted to comment on one of the earlier inputs about "soaking" the lifters. I've done it in the past, but I ran into an article about two weeks ago in the November 2007 issue of Car Craft ("what's your problem" section pg. 66) that said that you can actually cause more problems if you soak/pump-up the new lifters during a rebuild. It puts too much oil in the lifter and can "lock" the piston and not allow it to bleed down sufficiently to close the valves or to be able to adjust the preload. Has anyone else ever seen or heard of this before?
