Caravan from the south and west

anyone else from the deep south thinking about going?:beer

I see everyone is planning their itineraries for CruiseFest, now that the event is so close, and I'm hoping the event is a huge success!

I've been putting off this announcement since February, but it seems I can't prevaricate any longer. Unfortunately, for a variety of reasons, I will not be able to attend CruiseFest this year. As much as I might want to go, I have a set of circumstances conspiring to put it out of reach as a goal this year.

Have fun, everyone! CruiseFest is a great time, and I really wish I could be there with all of you.

I'm planning to attend. I still don't know my exact route or day of departure yet.

Well, OK Patrick, we'll miss you. How about any others in the Colorado area? Scott, you know anyone planning on attending? I think Bill said that he wasn't going to temp fate this year. How about Geezer? Barrett and I are leaving from KC Thursday morning, but not sure about his plan about leaving Colorado.

Tom, I plan to leave Colorado on June 9; I guess we could meet up along the way. I believe that you intersect I70 around Ellsworth Kansas. I could meet you somewhere near there if you want, or we can just meet on Thursday morning. As for the return trip, I plan to leave after Paul's seminar on Sunday, after 10 am. I hope that many of us on the caravan can return together. After posting this, I will send you my cell phone number. I still have yours I believe. As is the case with Yoda, my cell is used only for emergencies. However, if you can believe this, my 08 that I will be bringing has it's own phone number that you can call. Dan S called me after our lunch last year when we did the San Juans with the RMCSC. Freaked me out. He had called my wife to get the number.

Barrett, not sure what time we are headed out. Rosie might have to work that day, and if she does we won't be leaving until after she gets off work...that will put us in KC around 11pm at the earliest. But I will let you know if that changes.

I did get your # in my phone...actually both numbers. CruiseFest will be upon us before we know it. Anyone else cre to check in? Scott.....Bill O. (geezer)...Bill H (geek)?

How about the southern contingent... Bud, Gerry, have you heard anything from Dawg? How about anyone from Oklahoma? It would certainly be cool to pull into Effingham with a long caravan.

LordVader, how about it. You planning on meeting up with us? How about others along the KS/MO I70 corridor, Columbia or St. Louis area?

:w Tom,

The DawG won't be making the run this year. He is still progressing toward getting life back on track. He has a few irons in the fire and hopefully things get worked out by the end of this summer ;).... Trust me the DawG will be there in spirit :dance

Last I heard Gerry is planning to make CruiseFest 2010. Gerry will be here Memorial Weekend. I know he want's to get Gail back together for Memorial weekend, we'll have to see how things pan out for him... I would let him run RARE on CruiseFest if Gail is still nursing that broken nose ;) We will talk Memorial weekend more about it ;)

Haven't heard much from VJ if he is planning to make CruiseFest this year..

Gas prices should be over $3.00 a gallon by this summer, so some folks may use that for not attending ;) :W ;shrug what, I shouldn't have said that... well :bash :SLAP me silly :chuckle

I am still on the fence Yoda! I am in my Hotel at Hot Springs Ark. at the Corvette Weekend now. The car show is tomorrow! I have so many things going on in May! We will have to make up our mines soon! ;help

Limeys, I tell ya,,,,Can't drive with em, can't drive without em..... We'll miss you.

Tom, I plan on leaving on the 9th, early morning and stopping in Columbia the first night. Might be meeting up with an old friend for a couple of hours. If you all want to meet up there Thursday, that would be good and we could connect with the the others at the rest stop east of St Louis. I'll send you my ph number.

Scott, since Tom and Rosie are leaving late on the 9th, maybe you and I and any others from CS can meet up and make the I-70 trip. As I have posted previously, I will stay overnight in KC with my brother (Bridman 18) and then join with Tom and Rosie and meet the rest of the caravan in Columbia. How does this sound to you? What will be your route to I-70 from the Springs - I-25?
I guess you and Tom could be co-captains on this caravan; sorry to hear that Patrick won't be making it, thought I would nominate him for captain. I haven't had the chance to talk to him since Christmas of 08 at the RMCSC dinner and Terry's dessert gathering.

Okay guys, checking-in as requested. I'm still wanting to make this trip but a bit reluctant to take this on in a caravan of one car.. me. I need to make a side trip up to Palmyra MO. either going or coming thus my indecision at present. I like the idea of going out with Barrett and hopefully others on the 9th and stopping in Columbia, etc. but then would not be able to caravan back with the group as I would need to head North for my side trip.

It would almost be easier for me to head out a couple of days earlier, do my visiting and then meet you all in Columbia Thursday at 11:00 AM for the final leg of the trip. That way I would be able to caravan back with the group Sunday.

So, what is the story Barrett... do you think we might be the only two going from this area? Haven't seen much about joining anyone from the West.

I am not sure who are definitely going other than Tom and myself, but I am hoping that Scott makes it too. As it stands, I see myself and Tom meeting in KC and meeting you and Scott in Columbia, picking up Billy east of St Louis along with Bud and others. With Patrick out, if things work out, I think that the trip from Colorado could be Scottm you and me (leaving you in KC) driving across Kansas. Hopefull others will join us before the start date of June 9.

This sounding pretty good. Still not sure if Rosie has to work the 9th or not. We're playing the game as if she does, so we will probably meet up with you, Barrett, Thursday morning and head off to Columbia to catch up with Scott and Bill. Then on to St Louis and catch Billy and maybe Bud.

Let's keep this thread warmed up so we can build a little steam and hopefully pick up a few more people to make this a really fun trip.

What will be your route to I-70 from the Springs - I-25?
Barrett
I'll head out on US 24 to Limon and hook up to I-70 there. Plan on leaving my house sometime around 6:00 AM. Takes a little over an hour to get to Limon. Anyone that wants to, we could meet up at MacDonalds at the intersection of 24 and 70 around 7-7:30

I've managed to confuse myself... you are planning to leave on the 9th and arrive in Effingham Wed. the 10th... is that correct? Or are you planning to make the final trip from Columbia to Effingham on Thursday?

I plan on leaving on Wednesday, June 9th, spending the night in Columbia, meeting up with the rest of the group Thursday, June 10, and driving the last leg together getting in to Mid America the afternoon of the 10th.

Thanks, My mistake.. duh.. put the right date with the right day. I'm still trying to decide if I should visit relatives on the way out or on the way back. Clearly, I'll get lost either way. I'm leaning on going out with you guys but can't commit just yet.

:w Oakley and everyone :D

We debated that issue too. Whether to visit friends & family in Nebraska before CruiseFest or after... After convincing my wife :D no easy task sometimes :chuckle that it would be better on the way home after CruiseFest..

My reasoning was before CruiseFest meant that we MUST adhere to a schedule in order to meet up for the last leg of the caravan, or to be in Effingham NO LATER than the afternoon of June 10th.. My logic was that once CruiseFest was over we could spend as much time getting home as we wanted to take... BUT the BIG selling factor was I agreed to stop for a night at a casino on the way back to Amarillo... probably along the Missouri River north of KC around Nebraska City or if needed as far north as Council Bluff / Omaha ... ma sure misses Lake Tahoe and Reno... I sure don't :chuckle

Anywho, that was my logic and winning arguement in "our" debate :boogie ;LOL (Sure is nice to win one once in awhile :D )
