Has anyone had success changing from you car's original color to a different one? I am thinking of having my car color changed from Pewter to Black.

Thanks in advance for any advice that you can offer!

Suggestion i would remove the interior yourself and save a lot of labor cost. I had mine painted and was going to change colors, The shop told me it would add about $1200 - 1500 to the price so i stayed with the same color but had them dismantle the car and paint all pieces off the car. When it came to the door jams doors were off and no seals and carpet rolled back. Their claim was in order to do a complete color change it would involve removal of the dash and possible the front windshield. My first Vette and not very knowledgeable about the C4 Vette i trusted the shop. They still did an awesome job...

FRC Corvettes are very rare. Don't change the color it will lower the value. Besides black and dark colors are a pain to keep looking clean.

I've seen Corvettes where folks have have contrasting accents painted on their cars (things like stripes or flames) with varying levels of success. I've also seen "show" cars with completely customized paint jobs- but those are very pricey.

Personally, rather than changing the whole color, I'd shop around from some paint shops that have experience in adding accents. Ask to see examples of work they've done in particular on Corvettes. My $0.02 is that going to have to entire car painted may be more work and money than you think, and you may not like the end result.

Pewter is a beautiful color...black is hard to keep clean and anyway black is the symbol of darkness, evil and death...:W

Oh man! I LOVE the Pewter color on mine...........when it is as shiny as I can make it, it changes color depending on the time of day and the angle the light is hitting it....I guess if you change yours, that's one less Pewter corvette, and will make mine more rare...........have you ever had a black car? If you LOOK at them wrong they scratch. and they are dusty again by the time you finish drying them off ---- needless to say trying to get all of the wax off EVERY stinkin' crevice!!!! I had black once on another car....never again..............
