The 2006 Z06 Corvette will go into production later this year equipped with a 427 ci, 500 hp, 475 lb-ft of torque monster engine.

Waahhh...WOW!

Killer!!! A 427ci small block...:L
Thank you GM for producing such a badass car! And I don't mean just the creamy engine. I mean ALL of it! I like how they throw in the 'daily driver' attributes of the car as well! :L That was funny.
I wanna see the new steering wheel!
325's in the rear?!?! Yowzas! Didn't GM determine with the '96GS or one of 'em that they didn't necessarily need that big of a rear tire? Of course, they also weren't pushing 500/475 out of the engine either...
The engine sucks in an extra 100 cubic feet per minute of air more than the stock engine?!? That's a lot of air!!! Think about that... 10x10x10 block of 1ft cubes. :eek

I can't wait for the C6 Z06 showdown with the Ford GT. And what is Dodge doing nowadays with the Viper?

And.....and and and...if this is just the Z06, what is "Blue Devil" going to be?!?!?! :eek ;LOL!!!!!

To think back to the late 70's through late 80's, that we'd ever see another production car from the General with so much real horsepower! (Although, this still doesn't quite eclipse the unofficial 560HP of the L88 427.) This car is almost like getting laid for the first time! I just may have to skip the 383 upgrade and go right to the 502ci for my car. These new cars from GM are making me feel anemic! :L

12 inch rears?!?! I'm gonna take up residence in one, its cheaper than paying rent! This car is simply a monster. Dry-sump.. 7 liter small block... come on its silly how advanced and powerful it is. Watch out everyone... viper ford ferrari.. everyone.

Thanks for the Heads Up Rob!

Loved the link to the GM TV Website, I couldn't wait to get home from work this arvo to check out the Webcast of the C6R and the Z06. :D

The link wasn't available when I went to work this morning and without internet in the office, it was a long day to get to knock off time!
Good to see that the rumours were correct about the specs of the ZED.

It was good to see the webcast, even if the Vette won't be coming 'down under', well it won't be factory backed that is. Plenty of Vette lovers here in OZ can't wait to get their hands on a new C6 and now the new Z06. They won't mind paying between $160000.00 and $180000.00 AU for the beast!

I tell you what, you guys send the Vette downunder and we will recall all the Monaros badged as Pontiac GTO's. Nah, just kidding, good to see an Aussie car trying to break into a tough market. All they need is to give it some 'GONADS' and I think the old GTO of yesteryear will be reborn. I think with the Vette's new donk, this will not be too far away. ;)

Romour has it that GM wants our HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) to become more of a 'prestige power supplier', so maybe we might see a few Vettes down under with HSV badges on them.
Apparently the plan is to see HSV become a premium supplier of high performance vehicles and with GM pushing to globalise Chevrolet, maybe we will see a few of the vehicles that should be available here in Oz, finally make it here Factory Backed!
Well we can only wish....at the very least they could stop sending the European GM Crap here.

Anyway, you guys enjoy that new Z06, you lucky buggers! ;LOL

About freaking time GM built a Vette that could run with any car in the world and have some comfort too. I bet Zora is a happy man right now. I think the only way Zora would be happier is if it was mid engine.

?why 4VR pistons in new LS7?

I'm drooling over the photos & info about the new LS7/ZO6/MY2005 vette... and I've been looking at a photo of the new LS7's piston. It has 4 (four) valve reliefs.

I understand the new LS7 has 2 (two) valves per cylinder and the motors are hand-assembled by specialists.

It's been and is still common to employ 4VR pistons ... one part number will usually fit all eight cylinders and they're almost impossible to install wrong ... but they're not typically optimized for power-efficiency.

I'm wondering why LS7 designers have chosen a 4VR piston for a big buck, very hi-po motor that's assembled in low-volume work cells by specialists?

Also ... has anyone gotten new LS7 specs for blocks' deck height, rods' length and pistons' compression distance?

Maybe they are using the same pistons in another engine as of yet unannounced? ("BlueDevil"?)

Brian,

Since I KNOW that I won't be able to afford the new C6 Z06, I have been keeping an eye out for a 1995 ZR-1's.

All the past great :BOW Kings got old, and they would not have survived a duel with younger :_rock contenders, but their greatness made them legends through the ages... ;worship Long Live The King!!!!!!!

Hey, Gerry, I can't grab a C-6 yet, either, but I'd be happy to share some tricks I put into my 10 sec '95 with you if your interested. And WB9MCW, everyone on the track knows my girl, I don't take **** from Viper, Ferrari, Lamborghini nor anyone else that is still even close to street legal in Hawaii. (at least I still look almost stock! lol)
