I need to increase the value of my car for my insurance.

does anyone know where I can find or can recommend a good classic car appraisal place around Delaware, eastern PA, northern MD or South Jersey?

I've never had a car appraised before so don't know where to start looking for someone who does it.

Can most specialty Corvette shops do it? I have two (Conte's Corvettes and County Corvette) that are fairly close so if they do it I can go to one of them.

Thanbks for your help

Barry,
The appraiser will have to be acceptable to your insurance company. I learned that lesson several years ago after a false start and a wasted $100.00. You may wish to give your agent a call. If you have "agreed value" coverage this becomes a crucial factor. In other words you must be confident that your company will agree with the appraiser's opinion.

thanks Paul, good point I didn't think of.
My agent just said get an appraisal - didn't tell me they had to approve of the appraisier. I better check back with my company first.

It's entirely possible that your company will accept an appraisal carte blanche. Mine will not. Here in Ontario the appraisal industry/profession is basically unregulated. Much like the home inspection industry was years ago. Some insurance companies have had to deal with some bad apples and are a wee bit sensitive. The good and reputable appraisers become well known and others fall by the wayside. Perhaps things are not the same in your area. Or my company is just being too conservative. But it does not hurt to get all the ducks in the line at the outset.

Appraisal

I just had my 65 Vette appraised last fall. I asked the insurance company who they recommended and then I called the appraiser. They came right to my door and I had the appraisal within 1 week. This way the insurance company can't tell you that your car was over appraised or inflated as they recommended the company.

Good Luck.
