Cleaning aluminum plenum on C4 88

If you spray wd40 liberally, and use a brush or rag it will clean almost everything,
even the aluminum tubing for the A/C. then give it a spray and let it dry for a nice shine.

How careful do you have to be with this on the rest of the engine - compartment that is painted?

I used it on the plenum and runners while they were off, but I have used it carefully with them on.

It is for use on wheels which is very close to rubber (tires) so my guess is it should be OK if not left there for an hour or two.
