Installed a RAM PowerGrip clutch set and had the flywheel resurfaced. Now it appears that in order to get enough throw-out bearing travel to disengage the clutch from the flywheel to shift gears I have to adjust the rod from the clutch pedal to the crossbar to be at the very end of the travel. Which means as the clutch wears down, I am not going to have any adjustment left.

I do not know how much was taken off the flywheel; I assume just enought to resurface it, but do I need to put a shim between the crank and flywheel or get a new flywheel?

Lanny,
I have the same thing....Ram HD Powergrip....had to adjust mine almost to the end of the rod also....probably less than 5/8 rod left.........but I did get enough adj out of it.....

Are you having any problems when you go to upshift??? COming to a stop light or anything with vibrations or anything?

That's a very common problem when trying to make an aftermarket clutch (especially Ram and Zoom) work with the stock clutch linkage and fork geometry, as the diaphragm finger height on those clutches is different than the OEM clutch. You need to lengthen either the pedal rod or the fork rod in order to regain adjustment capability.

My car is still sitting on jack stands, so I do not know yet if I have any problems at stop signs or anything yet. I was just checking out the shifter linkage adjustments and whether I could shift at all before putting the tires on and putting the car back on the ground (for the first time in six months).

I also found out that the replacement shifter boot I put in the console does not have enough material to allow full shifter throw....the boot came out. So I either slice the new one, try to reuse the original one, or get a new one that fits.

It's always something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
