I want to be able to pull the codes off my 96 and also reprogram the computer with my laptop. I have read that the hypertech code reader is junk somewhere. Is there a computer program/cable out there that will do both?

Well, just pulling codes is one thing. Any scanner can do that.

If you intend to reprogram the PCM to make it run better, you'll need something like Autotap or EASE to get a base line of how the car is running. These programs can also pull codes and reset service engine light(Codes).

Then use LT1 edit or other to reprogram. I have researched this but have not found any one program package that does it all.

There are several programs available on the net to do what you want...also there are schematics that show how to connect your laptop to the ADL...I have all of this in several .zip files if you are interested....let me know...

Besides that, he is asking if there is one program package that will do it all. Think I already answered his questions.:bash :L :J

Somebody needs to do some more research....

As I said earlier...there are several programs available to do what he wants. There are many programs out there that will do part of what he wants, together they will also take care of his needs.

prices

I have been checking the prices for the EASE obd2 software, pricey program. Is ease the best program out there? Before i shell out that much dough, I want it the best. I see they have upgrades out too for $$$$$. Will LT1 edit work good for an LT4 engine?

The engine does not matter...it is the ECM and associated eprom and ram memory. I have 5 .zip files I can send you with all the info and programs you will need to do what you want. Send me your email address via a PM and I shall send them to you.
