I was at that auction. I do not believe DR1 ever crossed the auction block. If I recall a private deal was made on the car. Check out that selling price. 286k. GM was selling off a major part of their collection. I saw other experimental corvettes. "Purple smash" which I had seen at the Bowling Green corvette museum in Jan 2007 was also there, it is in the background of one of the pictures that I took. Anyway, hope this clears up some confusion.
 
Checkout the thread over on the ZR1.net site about these 1989 ZR-1s.The person that owns the Purple Smash car also just bought a 1989 ZR-1
