Cool Commercial!

Mattyg92, while I also thoroughly enjoyed the commercial, I'm unclear as to why you posted this thread in the C6 Corvettes for Sale/Wanted Forum.

Hang on, I'm going to move this thread into the C6 General Discussion forum... and for the record, I think that's the first time a thread has been moved either into or out of the C6 For Sale/Wanted Forum. :L

I'm not doubting what you say, Barry. I've been the victim of un-requited waves myself, and they sometimes come from owners of C3's and C4's, not just C5's. There are Corvette enthusiasts, and then there are current owners of Corvette.

My point was that I think Chevrolet missed a golden opportunity in that commercial to subtelty reinforce the the tradition of the wave. More's the pity.

Yes, you summed it up better than I did it with much fewer words! It comes down the the difference between Corvette enthusuaists and "just" Corvette owners. Again, i've had C3 and C4 guys not wave back also, just the percentage is much lower than the number of C5 owners that don't wave. To make the C5 guys on here feel better though I've never had a single C6 wave at me! ;LOL

I agree, Chevy did miss a good opportunity here regarding the wave. On the other hand, as a company they probably don't care at all about it one way or the other as long as they sell cars - and the ad company making the commercial probably had guys making the ad that knew nothing about the wave tradition.

I never have a problem getting C5 drivers to wave. Is it possible that there are so many more C5s that it just seems like a higher percentage of non wavers? I also miss a wave here and there when I am pulling close to 1 G in a turn. That may not be a problem in most C3s and C4s :D. Besides it is really hard to tell if it is a C4 or a Pontiac Firebird driving toward you. At least the new C6, especially with a front plate, will be easy to spot.

Hi Blue

I agree about many times getting confused about a C4 or a firebird approaching me from the front! So many times I get ready to wave as they get closer and than have to pull my hand or arm back because it's not a Vette
LOL

I never wave at a C1 or C2 Corvette. I just stick my whole head out of my window with my eyes bugging out and then I yell out some compliments! Then I try to quickly regain control on my car. :upthumbs

BTW my C5 is my third Corvette. It would be interesting to know how may "new" C5 Corvette owners there are versus C5 owners that have owned other generation Corvette's in the past.

I never met a Corvette I didn't like.:v :w

you know, when I see a C1 or C2 I pretty much do the same thing myself and than I remember that i'm in a C2 also and have to control myself. I just got my '65 back in March so i'm STILL not used to actually having it. When I go nuts when I see another one on the road and my wife is with me she just shakes her head and rolls her eyes at me and than says "you're going nuts over that midyear over there?? What you you thing WE are driving....... " (than follows up with that under the breath "idiot" that women love to do)

:D

Saw a new one tonight.

new Chevy model kept bumping a C6 on the rear.
(who's got a nice rear?) hahaha

anyhow., the vette gets pi$$ed and burns out a 180 and now they are nose to nose.

then the copy is read - something like Meet the new BLA BLA BLA model from Chevrolet..

it was cool that it had the C6 in it.

one of the mods combined three threads(or more) re: the commercial..
I will edit mine out if possible.

You Are Welcome ~~~~~

I hope people don't imitate that commercial. I can just imagine some moron thinking that bumping a Corvette won't damage it. That is one of the most irresponsible commercials ever shown. :(

I know, I can just see it now..... all across America people who feel the need to imitate the media (since us Americans are so good at it) resulting in corvette owners across the nation getting bumped...... wouldn't surprise me in this day and age.

It's not the only one like it either. :( Chevy has a commercial with two Tahoes (or suburbans) bumper to bumper pushing each other to fight for a parking space:eyerole. I can see it already.

Thanks Eric -
But when Buster posted here after lunch, they were all still there (about 4 or 5 of em)
So I went thru and deleted em.

We must have crossed paths! haha

Thanks again
Rain

lol, I think those ads are great. Some of you need to relax a little I think. haha

I liked the commercial BUT.....kids driving the Vettes ?????.....not my idea for a great commercial but then again I wouldn't have allowed the "front end liscence plate" on the C6 to even be pictured, let alone delivered.....GM does it again.
