My water pump is leaking on my '08 LS3. Looks like it's coming out of the fitting on the top of the pump that the upper radiator hose attaches to. Can that fitting be replaced or does the entire pump need replacing? If so, is the fitting press fitted? I'm trying to avoid the hassle of taking it to the dealer. The 2 dealers around me have lousy service depts. I know from personal experience.

Also, when I removed the throttle body to get a better look at where the leak is, I noticed the inside of the intake manifold has a thin layer of oil on the entire inside surface. Is that normal?

I'd keep looking for a dealer you like, that way you get it fixed under warranty.

I thin layer of oil inside the intake is normal.

I'll have to go to the dealer. Maybe they can just replace the fitting. There doesn't seem to be any leaking out of the pump itself and it makes no noise when in use.

An "oil catch can" can eliminate the unnecessary internal intake lubrication.

I know what fitting your describing. That fitting can be reseated. Not a biggie
