1. Can I expect the same astronomical insurance rates as the original poster (despite the year of manufacture)?

2. Does this plan in general make any sense considering the circumstances, or I am just shooting for something that will end up not working out?

Thanks in advance.

Hmm... I don't think anyone saw my post... :cry

1. The short answer is yes. Expect it to be rediculously high. The best thing for you to do is ask your insurance agent.

2. IMHO, wait a few years while saving your money for things that are important at this stage in your life, like EDUCATION. Having a corvette is not going to make your bank account grow and if you're really lucky it won't drain it dry. EDUCATION will get you a lot farther down the road than any corvette!!

KOPBET.

I agree.........There will come a point in your life that you can get these kind of things.......Get that education and save your money so you can afford these kind of TOYS......:TALK

Just a thought and don't know if it pertains or is relevant but we don't carry full coverage on any of our cars simply because we wouldn't use an insurance company (given all their constraints) or a third party to fix any of our vettes (or others). Liability covers the other driver so the only time we would need coverage for our own vehicle is IF we were in an accident to where it was our fault. We carry liability on 14 of our vehicles and the total monthly rate is around $300 (but $75 of that is for the two bikes). They are all considered part-time (leisure) drivers. Remember, you only need full coverage if the vehicle is being financed or you expect to get in an accident to where it is your fault. Might want to check into liability insurance for the heck of it.

Yes Yes Yes

Unless it is a Ruby what is the replacement value of a 93?

We have operated a fleet of cars for many years. We carry enough liability to be protected from any contingency, fire, theft, and recovery but no Comp. Several cars have been (our driver’s fault) banged and one totaled…we are still $$$$$ ahead.

If you are forced to buy Comprehensive because you are financing the car you can’t afford the car. Car payments may be OK for a new mini van, etc., with full factory warranty, but not for a 93 Vette. My 93 went through 2 Opti¨s in 8 months. Not to mention tires, brakes, Bose, etc.,

When I gave my son the 82 we keep the car in my name until he was over 25. Saved about $1200./Yr.

As far as the education is concerned, you will get the education you want whether or not you buy the car

$6,000.00? $3,200.00? $2,400.00? Wow, and I thought that I was paying alot at $800.00 per year for a limited use Corvette.

I cannot imagine spending that kind of money on car insurance. I am 31, female, clean driving record and married. The Vette carries full coverage year round and is limited to 7,500 miles per year, even though it's only driven 1,500 miles per year. Coverage is through State Farm.

I guess I should stop complaining.....:SLAP

Hey Daryllawman, I'm 20 and I bought my 1991 yellow vette when I was 19. So far no tickets and have never been pulled over yet. And I do drive the car like a corvette.
