I have a 1992 LT1 corvette and whenever I make a left turn i hear a creaking kind of noise coming from the back left of the car. I have no idea what it could be

Possibly a half axle u-joint, or maybe a wheel bearing.

My bet would be a half shaft u-joint. In all my ownership of cars (some with very high mileage I've never had a wheel bearing go out.

creaking noise

I had a creaking noise from rear of car. Turned out was failed rear wheel bearing. Easy enough to check: jack up, grab top and bottom of tire and push/pull towards/away from you. If you have a lot of play it is the bearing. This is replaced as an assembly usually.

I think you have some valid input so far however, when you say "creaking" I want to think bushings. Possibly a sway bar or rear tie rod or spindle strut bushing. My 2 pesos ;shrug.

I have the same thing on my 94 LT1, I get it while backing and it seems to come from the left rear. It is like a creaking noise. Only time it does it is in backing and over a drop in my driveway where the driveway meets the street. I'll check the bearings. However, when I recently replaced the rear tie rods and leaf spring bushing I did notice some slop in the rear hubs and I looked at the U-joints and they looked a little rusty.

Anyone know how difficult it is to replace the U-joints?

Looks like I get to eat some crow. My left rear bearing is failing.

Please pass the salt. :W
