Guys....

I have an interview for a pharmaceutical sales position next friday. That is the first round. Wish me luck. The starting salary + company car would be a nice increase in income for me and keep me a b2k owner a while longer ;)

Keep 'em crossed. :upthumbs

***Fingers x'd*** :upthumbs

Best of luck Josh!!!

That Callaway has your name on it, so backing out is no option! :D

Josh, would you be adding an Aerobody to her in the near future???

Any other plans??

A) I could only hope :upthumbs

B) I still have a recipe( and a few parts) for 500+rwhp that I want to cook up :D

I hope it works out for you. I hope an Aerobody is in the future before you start the motor mods. There is nothing like an Aerobody on the corvette. The looks you get with an Aerobody when you drive it and bring it to shows is unreal. It is a real crowd grabber.

I agree with you Pete. Id LOVE to have Aero. Im not even sure Id go back with red though :o :crazy THe only problem with Aero is I could build my 500rwhp or even 6-700rwhp and still have 10k to play with. Aero is expensive for a poor boy like me :L

Surf - I know brute force is cool but the looks of the Aero are so unique :upthumbs What color would you consider?? Something custom?

Maybe Bill M. will sell you the aerobody he has that hasn't yet found it's way onto his car :confused

Wow, how much is that aerobody?

I thought it was about $7500 (plus fitting & painting). While we're at it, how much you figuring on 5,6, or 700 RWHP costing?

Love to see the recipe for that horsepower (please)

Good news/ Bad news

Good news...the interview went pretty well today. Im still a potential for the next round.

Bad news...I got a ticket in the b2k last month. 81 in a 55 :cry The down side to that is it was a 4pt ticket. The company I interviewed with won't hire over 5pts on your license. I had another ticket back in 2001. So Im not sure how many points I have on my license.

Malc, as far as my recipe for power goes. Its nothing to special. I have a set of AZspeed runners and fully ported plenum. Id like a fully ported(maybe extruded) big base manifold. You can have a stock 48mm throttle body reworked to 52mm so that the rams horn will still fit. On my car I would guess Id be near 440-450rwhp.

After that Id go for a full 3" dual exhaust, and if I felt crazy put on a set of milled down AFR 190s. With custom tuning im sure Id be at least 490-500rwhp, if not more.

Here is my price estimate break down....

AZspeed runners - 375
Big mouth base -375
52mm throttle body - 275
Complete TPI Extrude- 675!!
AFR heads 1200
3" Dual mandrel bends with mufflers 800(guess)
Dyno Tune 600
Labor 800
Turbonectics Racegates 850
=
$5950

Now figure this is a stock appearing B2k, with still a stock cam. Throw in a custom grind cam and watch the power go thru the roof. :eek

This is Sledgehammer power....the only real problem is the TPI style intake. Get your hands on a 100+ and :bu

If I could do Aero it would definitely be a color that would stand out :D

As far as buying Bill's Aero....even if he would sell it, its just not a possibility right now or I would.

Pretty impressive surf

I've been thinking about relacing my TT with an interesting 94 that's for sale over here. Here's the spec:

1994 Lingenfelter Supercharged Corvette – Must Sell!

This is a true super car. I am the only owner from new. The car has only 15000 miles on the clock – yes this mileage is genuine and guaranteed. The engine was originally upgraded by John Lingenfelter, the engine designer of the Corvette Callaway Sledgehammer, which achieved 254.76 mph. The car was then further upgraded by Geoff Jeal, who installed the Vortec V1 Supercharger, Carrol Water / Alcohol Injection System & Porsche 993 Bi Turbo GT2 Brembo Braking System.

This car has been featured in magazines and has been a numerous times Gold Concourse winner and has had over £100,000 spent on it.

The current specification of this 1994 Lingenfelter Supercharged Corvette is as follows:
• 750 BHP / 675lb/ft torque & 200++MPH / 0 – 60 MPH 3.5 secs
• Vortec V1 Supercharger running 1 Bar Boost
• Carrol Water / Alcohol Injection System
• LPE Super Ram 58mm Throttle Body
• Competition Cam Hydraulic Roller Camshaft
• Rossler 4 L80E Transmition with 4000 RPM Stall Converter
• Porsche 993 BiTurbo GT2 4Pot Brembo Calipers with 13” Vented Discs
• J&E Forged Aluminium Piston - 9:1 Compression Ratio
• Lunati 5140 Forged Steel Crankshaft - 3.750” Stroke
• Oliver Steel Connecting Rods - 5’850” Length
• Borla 304 Stainless Steel Exhaust System
• CNC Ported Cylinder Heads & Hand Ported Intake Manifold
• Titanium Full Roller Rocker Arms - 1.6:1 Ratio
• Stainless Steel One Piece Valves - 2.00” / 1.56”
• Titanium Valve Spring Retainers - Lighter than Steel
• File Fit Plasma Moly Piston Rings
• Computer Balanced Rotating Assembly

It's about $36,000 though the owner reckons it's cost him over $178,000!!!!

I was interested because that's quite a well known car over here and I've always fancied it. Trouble is I've always felt a bit reluctant to sell my TT because if I ever wanted to replace it I'd have to source on in the states which will no doubt cost a lot more than I would have sold mine for.

Don't know about the USA but over here the sade fact is that modified cars like the one above are often not worth any more than a stocker and in fact can be harder to sell due to a very limited range of buyers. Insurance can be tricky too...

Bit of trivia worth thinking about: I went drag racing a while back (ran cr*p times due to wheelspin in first 3 gears!!!) and I ran against a guy who had a 90 Corvette auto with a few mods. He ran 12.5s @ 111mph on street tyres (!) but he said "the difference between our cars is that his is still just a regular vette no matter how much he spends on it whereas mine (ours, fellow B2K owners) is a collectors item and they're never making them again".

Looks like whether you want a rare car with a lot of charachter or a true supercar that can be modded cheaply, our cars could well be the best bet.

Surf, what's impressive about your proposed mods is the amount of power for the money, that is nothing short of ridiculous! Imagine a carefully chosen set of heads with the right cam too!

If I keep my car (likely) I reckon I'll get round to modding it sensibly. I was interested in the wonderbar upgrade that everyone on the forum recommends but I think it's just too much money. Sure there's another way round it.

Speak soon, Malc.

Yea, I forgot to factor in the Wonderbar b/c my car already has it :D But I am making 400+rwhp without any other mods...is it worth it? I would say it is.

Malc, That car sems to me in many ways similar to one a friend had built by Lingenfelter in 1991 / 1992... Although his did not have a supercharger, it had everthing else listed, and more :eek (It was an LPE 406 Superram)

While the car was brutally fast, it did not hold to me, the same mystique the B2K's do... He held the car until 95 and sold, more like parted it out - as nobody wanted to pay what he was asking for a Corvette that had been extensively modified :(

If I recall, he sold the 1991 Corvette Coupe for $14k (in 95) that had rtv sealant plugging a few of the holes in the floorboards from the rollcage :eek) and got $9k for the used (but recently freshened) 406, two Dana 44's and a bunch of misc brake, fuel, and engine parts...

He had a lot more than $23k in the car but that was all he could get - factor in, he had to secure an L98 and have that installed, just to make the car marketable as "stock" and his bottom line dropped like a brick :(

I just thought I would share an experience that I was familiar with, on a car that sounds similar in many regards - Hope this helps :beer

That 94 is a real beaut

though I know what you're saying - it's pretty much what I've been thinking. Although the '94 is an incredible car built to an extremely high standard by a fastidious owner I do have reservations. Seems the same in the US - your friend's car bears this out - that more people are interested in a stocker. Even those who have the money / inclination to build (or have built) a modified car they seem more inclined to spend the money doing it to their car rather than buying one already done.

If I keep my car (looking likely) and it gets modded it will just look like a regular B2K and I'm sure mods won't hurt the value.

The car I was after (notice I'm changing to "was" now) is owned by a pretty wealthy chap and I don't mean any disrespect here but I can't help thinking he's spent a lot more than is necessary to build a car of that (admitedly impressive) stature. Sounds like he spent the best part of $40,000 on the 383 conversion then another $45-50,000 on the supercharger and further rebuild. However I look at it I can't work out how I could spend that amount of money if I tried (though I do generally tackle all work including an engine rebuild myself which saves $$$)

Looks like surf's talking about similar power to that '94 for (comparative) peanuts!

All the best, Malc.
