1988 Corvette Coupe - Bright Red
Happy New Year, friends! I am looking at upgrading the interior of my 1988 C4 coupe (flame red). I saw on Mid American Motorworks replacement console cushions -- Finish Line Console Cushion - two-tone

There is an installment process, and I am afraid I might have trouble replacing the lid since it is already somewhat loose. I think the light has to be disconnected and rewired, and that worries me with the loose lid.

I am also wondering if the finish line pattern might be "too busy" for the interior look. ???

Does anyone have these cushion replacements, or has anyone seen them?
What are your thoughts? Thanks for your time and opinion!

I bought a leather cover for the console that has the corvettte emblem on it. It fits nice and wasnt difficult to put on,,goes over the orignal cover. It is padded and feels good when resting my arm on it. The cover closes ok and the light works ok though i did have to unplug it to install the new cover. I bought the part from corvettecentral. if i remember it comes in most interior colors

here's what I did,my lid was broke and coming apart,I couldn't just recover mine.Yall know even the smallest interior part to replace is terribly expense,I'll even say priced way too high. Here's how i saved 90.00,spend ten dollars on supplies.1/2 inch thick wood ,nice thick padding, and a what?,1ft x1ft piece of leather.I had to chisel out a area for the light to recess in.Looks and feels great,i think.

I just installed one from Corvette Central that I got as a Christmas present. You have to remove about seven or eight phillips head screws which include removing the light and the latch from the lid. You don't have to unplug the light, just take it loose from the lid. It's all pretty simple. Took about half an hour, comes with directions, much easier on the elbow when driving.

Its kinda funny how they changed the pads to fit better. When I bought mine years ago it was actually velcro-ed to the top of the OEM. The glue would heat up in summer and it would slide off! I added some elastic bands to hold it on from under the hinge...and now I see that this is apparently the solution from the manufacturer as well.
Removing the console lid is an easy job and just so long as you can hold a screwdriver you shouldnt have any problems (i think the screw heads were 7 or 8mm on an 84)...oh... but be careful, the bulb and mercury switch does get VERY hot! Might want to pull the fuse first.
:w

Ahhhh, you just gotta love American ingenuity. Great job on the console cover!
