Danica's driving ability questioned.

Name me the championships and races she's won in NASCAR and Indycar for that matter. Shes won one race in Japan and no others in any form of racing. The green flag drops and she fights her way to the back or mid pack and you'd think that there was no other driver on the track! I don't think she's earned all of that equipment or attention except for the bikini shots! And if you've read some of my other racing discussion you'll find that I don't think Junior is a shoe either.

To expect a new driver in NASCAR to roll right into Victory Lane at the end of each race just because their in the best equipment is a little presumptuous. Besides, NASCAR and IndyCar are spec racer cars and nearly everyone has the same equipment - NASCAR would not have it any other way.

The media is justified in pointing out Danica because she's different - whether she's running mid pack or up front or at the back. NASCAR pretty much demands that Danica gets the attention, it's how they sell tickets to an otherwise boring race. If Danica were not there, the reporters wouldn't have much to talk about.

That's just he way it is.

Danica is the only story to talk about in NASCAR, other than the wrecks.

You and I both know that Daytona is not real racing and that it has given wins to a few one time wonders. Bayne got lucky.

If you want to point fingers at anyone, point at NASCAR and the media. NASCAR wants and needs to push the Danica story. The media wants to push her also. Both NASCAR and the media need the ratings. I don't consider that a free pass.

Danica is a driver and doing a lot better than most of the others. I'm not questioning her driving ability.

OK you're not questioning her driving ability but plenty others do. I think if she had become a dominate force in Indy Car I'd be impressed, but she didn't and I am not. I am just sick of all of the non stop coverage during a race of a novelty driver with less than average ability.:bang

That's been the whole issue all along.
It really has nothing to do with her driving ability - which I think is more than enough to be in NASCAR or IndyCar or wherever.

Her crew chief won her that race with fuel strategy. Having a ride in Indy Car or even NASCAR isn't necessarily about talent and all about bringing in a sponsor. See Tony Kanaan and Milka Dunno.

Oh it might be noted that she came in way ahead of such over rated drivers like Edwards,Hamlin,K.Wallace,Harvick and a Busch .

Car owners are putting Danica behind the wheel because she has the potential to bring home the money. Not because she looks good sitting in the car. If she wasn't making money, she wouldn't be driving.

Wrong! They put her in the car because she's a cash cow. Whether she drives worth a crap or not she gets non stop media coverage. You'd think that there wasn't another car in the race the way they follow her. Besides it really is her looks!
