My girlfriend found a '96 LT4 that she wanted to buy, so Sunday I drove her down to Albuquerque to get it. She also has a '65, but she wanted the '96 to autocross, and something to drive more frequently than the '65. What a great drive back to Denver. Weather was perfect, light traffic, and no construction! We got the drive-out permit from NM DMV Monday morning and left for Denver. Driving through New Mexico it was hard to keep the accelerator off the floor, but I could imagine me at 160 and a state trooper coming at me. There were stretches where we didn't overtake anyone for 25-30 miles. I did get hers up to 120 once, and it was smooth and stable. While I was driving her car it was fun to see mine ('04 coupe) on the road, actually moving. We had a lot of fun exchanging positions and being able to see our own car from different angles...she would lead, then I would be in front. How often do you get to see your own car moving? I don't mind saying that the Corvette experience is fabulous. We both love the cars and the people we meet because of them.

Sounds like a fun time, and sounds like a great girlfriend - any girl with 2 Vettes is a keeper!

Okay, who's going to be first to ask the inevitable question? Does she have any sisters?

Have a great day,
Doc

wow it must be nice to meet a woman who doesn't say you spend more time with your vette then me! oh sorry were did that come from?????

Grand Touring

Hey FB REF! I went through the same stretch a couple of weeks ago. Drove done to Phoenix to play baseball. Got a ticket just west of Pagosa Springs. Drove to Tucson from Phoenix and then back to Denver through ALB and Santa Fe. 2379 miles round trip and not the first hint of any trouble. 24 MPG verfied at the pump. I LOVE MY VETTE! There are some spots north of Santa Fe where you can " let the horses run". I know what you mean about seeing your car in motion. I put my wife behind the wheel of my Malibu Convertible a couple of times and follwed in one of my other vehicle. It's kind of like riding in the passenger seat instead of driving but better.

FB REF, sounds like a great trip. Is that all the way on I25? not familiar with I25 in NM. I would really like to watch my car from another perspective. Maybe I can get the wife to do that for me, but it's tough to get the vette out without driving it myself.:blue: It's great to hear from you, and of course, pictures of the new "baby" would be appropriate.

Oh and "Hi, Greg".

Nah, don't worry about the State Trooper, he can't pull both of you over by himself. :L:L:L

I would love to see my car moving around. My wife, my son and lastly a friend of mine drove the car for short distances and all got scared :) It is the power of the car and its style that scares the people away :(

Cheers,

Selim
