Help. My 96 CE, auto, G92, 85,000m, rear end makes an on gas/off gas clunk. Also "yaw" to left mostly under roll-on accelaration. Drives great otherwise. Car still rocks with great accel-r-ration!!(mostly highway & non-competition miles. Does this clunking warrant a rear diff rebuild or swap, and (when)should u-joints be replaced???

At 85,000 miles you should check all your u-joints . Your rear joint on the driveshaft may turn out to be your clunk . To check it right you really need to unbolt it . Just shakeing around on it doesn't always work . Cliff

When I bought my 87 the rear end camber was WAY out. I thought It was bearings. So I set out to change them.Well you have to take the half shafts out to do it and when I unbolted the right one the u joint cap fell off in two pieces. the bearings were powdered. I replaced the bearing/hubs anyway while I was in there. I got the brute force non zerk u joints from autozone. Now all is right with the world and the camber is right where is should be. The u joints didn't really check bad until I u bolted the spider traps ( u joint straps )
