Do ya think it's too much Chrome?

I highly doubt that after years and millions in research and development that $100 worth of chrome or neon is going to improve on the design.
Amen! Well said. Personally, I feel that nothing should ever be added to a 'vette's appearance besides functional pieces, and very small, tasteful things. The Corvette's body already IS the attraction. Changing it is like changing a painting.

Now I've ordered the SS Corvette letters
What are these?:confused

I would say "no" to any chrome pieces on a modern Corvette. Those chrome taillight inserts seem like something that should go on a 4x4, not a high performance street car.

In the engine compartment, the exhaust, or in the brake area where there are other metal pieces then it can look good, but the 'vette has a composite body. So why bolt on metal pieces to a composite body? It would be the only metal on the exterior, and that's why it looks out of place. (to me anyways)

I agree with whoever said that anything put on the outside of the car should be functional and non-attention drawing. Let the natural lines of the car speak for themselves.

In the old days when the cars had chrome bumpers and other metal pieces on them then the chrome looked good on the outside. But not today.

And neon....ummmm.... no....no possible way. That goes along with the big wings and such.

Oh yea.... one more thing while we're on the subject.

The "CORVETTE" lettering for the back. I would say NO to this to. Because what is the purpose of it? That kind of lettering goes along with the big windshield banner that says "CORVETTE".

What are they for??

In case someone didn't know what kind of car it was? Oh.. I thought it was a Mitisubishi, but now I can read that it says "CORVETTE". It must be a Corvette then.

I really think people know by looking at the car that it's a Corvette. Most people dream of owning a Corvette, so I don't think one could slip by someone trying to figure out what it is. So like putting the bright "CORVETTE" letters on it is like TYPING IN ALL CAPS. YOU KNOW WHAT THE GUY IS SAYING, BUT IF IT'S PRESENTED LIKE THIS THEN IT'S REALLY ANNOYING. IT'S A CORVETTE!!!! I HAVE A CORVETTE...HEY YOU!!!! LOOK...CORVETTE!!!!!

Oh well, that's my personal opinion....God bless the USA.

Adding just a little accent of Chrome will set off the car and should be fine.

Just don't get into that Rice mod mood!

If you love chrome buy a StingRay or early Shark. They came with enough Chrome to keep six monkeys busy polishing it 24/7 and yes I love it!!! ´never knew that I would miss the shiny stuff so much until I sold the ´63.:eyerole

To me Chrome is an era thing, it just doesn’t blend in with the lines of today’s cars- but do not listen to me, I am always wrong…just ask my employs or wife!:confused

Well I did the chrome stuff anyway. It looks pretty good to me, but obviously from all the replies to the contrary not everyone agrees and some do. But that's okay, I did ask the question. I don't have any other chrome on it other than what's in the back. If I had chrome wheels, then I would probably had done less in the back. Maybe.

Thanks for your opinions everyone.

I like the chrome

My next door neighbor just bought a 2003 AE, and I was about to tell him that I think nice chrome pipes would really accent the back of his car, and then I bit my tongue. He's the type of guy that would be offended by a statement like that, no matter how well intended. Personally, I think the SS lettering and the chrome pipes look awesome.

What are all of these anniversary editions in MA????
My neighbor just bought one, and Gallo motors on Shrewsbury Street in Worcester has one for sale with 6K miles on it. They want $46K, I believe.
I thought my neighbor told me they only made 500 anniversary editions.

They made a good many more than that. I think it's over 11k.

They aren't "limited editions" as far as I know.

I tend to agree with DarkShark 78. But if YOU like the way it looks thats all that matters.

Theres an old saying with the biker crowd "Chrome don't get you home"

Well here is the result of my chrome additions.

Looks good to me. Anymore would be way too much though.

Opinions are like azzholes, everyone has one & they all stink. It is your Vette, you picked it out, you love it. If you want to add chrome or anything else, go for it.

I like the picture you posted. In my humble opinion, that is enough exterior chrome on the body!

Remove visor stickers and flip those babys underneath the windshield and your good to go.

I agree, can't bolt on chrome to a composite body. There is a place for everything. Ever see a Ferrari or a Lambo or any other exotic with bolted on chrome?, don't think so. Even Mustang guys don't bolt that stuff on.

Sorry, you asked and when it comes to this chrome "appearance mod" car art junk my opinion is very strong! It shows the poor taste of many Corvette owners in my opinion! Why is it that higher-end car owners don't feel the need to clutter-up and embellish their cars with car art as many Corvette owners feel the need to do? I have an opinion about this -- but expressing it would be even more politically incorrect than what I have already written.

Why not get some spinner wheels that stick out of the fenders, paint the car with that color-changing paint, and maybe install a hydraulic kit too?
