I have a skunk partially cornered, but have to realize that it would be a garage queen. I couldn't justify the risk of driving it near as often, and that's what a vette is all about. My current '96 is fantastic but no GS.

The obvious solution is to own them both but not feasible, so trade daily enjoyment for the thrill of real hashmarks in the stable?

Just like to hear from the elite on their attitude. I have only seen one on the road ever, and it was in a rolling meet.

Number one ....not elite and number two ...no attitude . With that out of the way, why can't you drive it?, maybe not as often as your driving now(I assume you drive yours every day) but I know those who do drive theirs full time. The choice is yours, I don't drive mine everyday cause I don't have to. I drive it anytime I want unless its crappy outside. :cool

Are you really going to enjoy your car more just looking at it? As long as the car is kept in good shape, it'll always have a financial value. The question is what is it's value to you sitting there motionless?

Drive it! Just take care of it!

"Why bother?" Unless you plan to open a museum? This is a rare enough combination of LT4 power and performance suspension, wrapped in a classic package. Nothing personal, just MHO.

Guess you can always go into the garage, sit in the car, make engine noises and play with the steering wheel to pretend like you're driving it. That sounds like a lot of fun.
I also just read on another site that if you drive Corvettes in the rain, they don't melt!!

Once you get a taste of the LT4, you'll drive it. Trust me.:D

"Do you drive your Grand Sport?" Are you kinding me?? I don't have one (though I do have an LT4), but speaking from that driving experience, if I DID have one, the question wouldn't be Do you drive it?, it'd be "Do you sleep in it?" :D ;LOL ;LOL Oliver

My GS has about 73,000 miles and I'm the 4th owner. It's not my daily driver, but I look for every excuse to warm the oil. My insurance has a 7,500 mile /year limit as a casual car and I'm running real close to that limit because of a few road trips from Maryland to the Midwest. Next road trip ... the Auburn, Indiana Cruisefest!

ok, here I am...the one who has a Grand Sport with only 9,200 miles on it!! :bang Yes, I love driving #582. After all, I put a whole 1,500 miles on it during 2003!:eek I do love the GS and fall in love every time I get behind the wheel. However, we also have a fabulous 6-speed '02 convertible that is truly a driving machine, and we use that a lot more often than the GS. Yes, the GS was a bit costly when I bought it 2 years ago (with 3,400 miles on it), but it's our feeling that it will certainly maintain its value far better than the '02.

No, I didn't buy it for an investment, but I hate to rack the miles on it on "frivolous driving" (as Alan puts it!) when I have 3 other vehicles to use. I enter it into all Corvette shows in New England, and winning at those shows is my bag...that's all! It gives me great pleasure having it look as mint as it does.

I know, I know...you can beat up on me if you like, but I'll only have one Grand Sport convertible, and I want it to remain as new as possible!! In the meantime, you can see us tooling all over the place in the Electron Blue convertible!:Steer

Hey Diva, there's no reason to be apologetic. If I had a C-5 in addition to the GS my family would never see me unless one of them was in the passenger seat! My GS does have its fair share of chips and dings. Maybe, when I hit 80,000 miles, I'll have it repainted.

Just drive. Why have a 1:1 scale diecast in the garage. My buddy has GS #007, he drives it, races it, loves it. He has done a lot to the motor, head work, etc....they are made to be driven.

I can see the argument of not driving it if:
1)It has super low miles and is being kept as a collectors item.
2)It has super low miles and entered in car shows. You can't win these shows with a high mileage vehicle that has chips and stuff. It's all about who has the cleanest car.

Drive it and enjoy it while you can. You may not be around tomorrow.

I drive GS #340 ever chance I get, but not to work. Put 17,000 miles on the car since i bought it in July 2002...
