STRONG STUFF!! :thumb

Ya know Jane Ann I can tell you need some time off I'd consider a trip of NC .If ya have someone paint a new door the odds of it matching are not real good unless the person is a real artist.

Yep ,thats what I'd do .Oh Junkie has a new hot tub :blue:

Give him (Junkie) a call and talk to him --Yep thats what I'd do :D

Heck, even after you subtract your gas, food, tolls, and hotel money, you probably will STILL save some $$$$ by having Junk do it. :thumb:thumb

Thanks for the encouragement guys. It was needed and is appreciated. :thumb Jesse - thanks for the offer... I may call on you for advice too.

I wish I could cutout on a roadtrip to NC and some quality time with my Vette, but the same thing that prevented me from attending CruiseFest prevents me from going anywhere at the moment. Have to take care of a pressing matter first. I'm working on it.

So here's the latest:

Kevin is coordinating things for me. He took the car to a local body shop (I mentioned Tony in an earlier post) and left it with him.

So this afternoon, Tony calls me and tells me that after looking over the car, he believes someone HIT her. He said the fender broke first (you can see it's dropped in one of the photos) and when I tried to open the door, the fender was putting pressure on the door and that's what caused it to break!!

I'm no expert but when he explained it all to me it certainly sounded plausible... maybe I'm just hearing what I want because that means INSURANCE CLAIM!

Anyway, he told me he was going to let it sit while I get my insurance adjuster to come look at it.

I've got full coverage including uninsured motorist so I've got my fingers crossed... I think my deductible is $500 and that's a whole lot better than $2200.

I'm only worried because I thought it was something I caused and I didn't file a police report and waited til today to call the insurance company. :ohnoes

...................Also : Since it's your drivers door, you have two or three stickers on the door jamb, the vehicles VIN and all about where it was made and another about the tires and inflation pressures and such. I'f in fact the door is going to be junked, I know a company that will reproduce the exact sticker, all the information as it is on the present stickers, but, You have to use a digital camera and take good phots of each sticker. The company check the VIN # to who own's the car and so long as your the owner of a family member, they'll reproduce the door stickers. :w
Thanks for the suggestion killian. I hadn't thought of that. Can you share the info with me?

Thanks for the support guys, even the

BTW - picked up the truck (and its new altenator) this afternoon. Looks like it will be my daily driver for awhile.

That all seems to fit at first glance, but if someone hit the fender, there should be some kind of visible evidence of that on the exterior (scuffs, cracks, rub marks, etc.) -- potentially including the paint color from the offending vehicle. I suppose if it was a collision of only a few miles per hour (e.g., in a parking lot), this kind of damage could be minor enough to be easily overlooked at first... Let us know if you find any evidence of a collision on the fender!

If true, very annoying that someone would hit another vehicle, then drive off! :mad

Jane Ann, you should be able to claim it as a hit & run. I had it happen to my DD a few years ago. I never filed a police report, I just called my insurance agent and explained the situation. If you have a body shop telling you it looks like hit & run, then your insurance should cover it as such.

Best of luck! :thumb

Door jamb replacements.

ECS Automotive Concepts - Late Model Replacement VIN Door Decals

Jane Ann, this is the company I spoke of. But the really important thing is to to shoot two very good photographs of the existing door jamb stickers, as the replacement are going to be predicated on the samples you provide. The up side is that the replacement are much better than the originals, he uses a single sheet for the replacement, that means as long as you have the vehicle, the door jamb sticker won't delimitate ever again. Good luck !

I didn't see anything obvious. Well, except for my fender hanging low and the door out of line. Whether it's because I was too upset over the way my Vette looked or it wasn't easy to see... I can't say. But I've heard from many people that Tony's one of the best auto body guys on the coast and he must have seen something.

I've been working all week and couldn't get to the shop but I'm going Monday and look at it with him.

I heard from the insurance company today. They're sending an adjuster to look at it and work up an estimate. The good news is I have FULL coverage and it goes down as "uninsured motorist" and that's only a $200 deductible. And they'll reimburse me the full cost of the rental I had to get for one day.

I'm cautiously optimistic. Sorta.
If this all works out, it sure would be a nice ending to the week from hell.

Oh yeah. I forgot to mention my truck broke down on the way home tonight. I had to sit on side of the highway for about an hour waiting on a towtruck to take it to the shop.

I had to rent a car for work the next couple of days.
I'm fresh out of vehicles.

:mad :L :eyerole ;squint:

Dang dude! I have never seen that before and I think I've seen everything that can go wrong with a C5! That's a new one to me!
