Have been noticing lately how much slack there is when I put the auto in Drive after traveling backward a bit. Has anyone a comment about this? My Dodge doesn't have this much.

Come on jw,

Level with us. Have you been "hot roding" that car and got the u-joints all loosened up?:L

Are you referring to the sound of mechanical movement before the new gear engages? If so, that could be a worn torque tube coupler. If you are referring to a delay before the gear engages (R -> D), I believe that is normal in the 4L60E and 4L65E transmissions.

Slacker

Thanks for responding guys.

I drive the car like an old man instead of a teenager out lookin' for some Touch---. Car has never been abused by me. Besides it's an automatic and I've just read how to do a proper burn-out in C&D (lifting off the clutch and onto the brake with the throttle open). That should tell you how much I'm up to speed.

There just seems to be a considerable amount of driveline lash as opposed to my other vehicles. There is no noise just that moment of waiting for it to engage forward.
