OK, I know I should probably know this, but what does FRC ( as in '01 FRC) stand for???

Thanks for the education,

Dave

Fixed Roof Coupe

As in-no removable covering. I believe this was meant to be a lower-cost alternative to Corvette buyers.

The experts here may have additional info, but that's what I am aware of.

Fixed Roof Coupe. It was the predecessor to the Z06.

That's right, Rick. It was to have cloth seats etc. to hold down the price, but I read the GM execs didn't like the idea of a "low-end" Vette. The sticker on my 99 says $41+k. I don't know how that compared to a coupe.

It may have stood for "Fixed Roof Coupe" but right now it actually stands for "Future Rare Collectible". Especially if GM uses the C6 Coupe body on the new Z06.

Some think it means Factory Race Car!;LOLOr Flying Roof Club!
;LOL There are a lot of "members" of the Flying Roof Club over on the CF.

I'm told the FRC's were not big sellers in 99 & 00, however, they are a hot item now. Not so much as a collectible (yet ;) ) or higher priced, but when they come on the market, folks really go for them.

FRC is a abbreviation for "fixed-roof coupe" which was the term used inside GM for the C5 hardtop body style. When rumors began circulating of a third body style in 1997, the name "FRC" took hold, however, the official name for the model was "Corvette Hardtop"

FRCs were made from 1999 to 2004. They were called Corvette Hardtops in 99 and 00. They were "Z06es" in 01-04.
