I just purchased a 1980 L-48. It has a 4 spoke chrome w/black leather wrap steering wheel that has "Dora Arkus Duntov" engraved on one of the spokes.
I have tried several searches and cannot find any info.

Is this a stock wheel for '80?
Is it aftermarket or OEM? :confused

What is it worth (a couple of people have said $400-$500)?
Thanks, Jeff

Thats the father of the Corvette. What do you mean by engraved...like a manufacturers engraving or some just engraved Dundov's name.

Does it look like an 80's wheel? Or could it be a pre 1963??

I have one of those but mine is black leather with black spokes.

Deffently after-market. Not sure who made them.

tom...

the pic is what I have (except wrapped in oyster).
OEM?
year?
$$?

Not OEM. Probably made by Grant or Nardi and Zora got a piece of the action; maybe they came on the small number of aftermarket "Duntov Turbo" conversions that ACI produced.

They pop up every now and then on eBay on all sorts of C3 Corvettes, or are being sold as a 'collector' item. Usually go for 50 bucks or so. OEM wheels in good shape are worth lots more.

Go to google.com, click advanced and do a search for Arkus-Duntov under exact match. Lots of information on the net. That steering wheel was also used in some limited edition 1980's. For example a limited edition 1980 convertible http://rogerscorvette.com/spots/feb99/spot.htm

Value??? Who knows. Its worth more to someone that is missing it.
