It will come off with aggressive solvents but I only use diluted (biodegradable) Simple Green under the hood.

I would not use petroleum-based products such as Gunk near new paint!!!!!!!

last summer I had a slight leak somwhere and was getting oil on my intake manifold and dripping down the block so I used Gunk to clean everything after it was fixed. Yep, it's pretty aggressive but since all thst mess os cleaned up I don't see a need to require using anymore of it. Now I can just clean with simple green as normal.
