Engine Mounts - is G.M. crazy???

Checked the Volunteer Vette Products catalogue - 1967 big block engine mounts are $US15.00 ($CA22.00) each.

Checked the Zip Products catalogue - 1967 big block engine mounts are $US15.95 ($CA22.40) each.

Dropped by my friendly neighbourhood Chevy dealer - 1967 big block engine mounts are $US75.25 ($CA104.50) each!!!

Now I like my local Chevy dealer. I purchase or lease all my Chevys there. I even bought my wife's new Pontiac Grand Prix through them. (Did you know you could buy a new Pontiac at a Chevy store? )

HOWEVER, I'd have to be completely mad (as in :crazy) to buy parts there.

What is up with the GM parts pricing?

I had the same experience recently. I was looking for a speedometer cable. Corvette America, Ecklers, Mid America, etc. all want $20-30 US (28.50-43.00 CAD). My local GM dealer, $75.00 CAD.

It's not quite as ridiculous as yours, but what is wrong with these guys? I can't believe in your case it's 5 times the price. Amazing! :confused

I agree that the GM mounts are way too pricey, but they're made in the U.S., to GM prints, and they fit. Most of the mounts sold by the catalog houses are made in India, Bangladesh, and God only knows where else, and many of them are dimensionally different, causing through-bolt hole alignment problems.

Get em now. I have seen that disparity a few times in the past on rubber parts - just before catalog (GM NOS) parts shot past GM discounted price by 10-12%.

How much are they from MOOG or TRW? You know they are quality. Parts like that you don't have to get from a Corvette supplier or the dealer.

I like the poly mounts you can get from Energy Suspension. For your application, and with that brute of an engine you are installing, it might be the way to go. Places like Jegs has them.
