Hi

Im about to build the exhaust for my "new" engine.
My mods are:

Hot cam/TS 23" heads/Hooker headers/probe SRP fordge pistons/SCAT9000 crank/SCAT9000 rods/LT1 intake/1:6 RRs/
My goal is around 400chp +-15hp

I got hooker headers, and hooker front ypipe.
From the front ypipe i got a strait 3 inch pipe instead of the cat.
Then I look at the magnaflow catback to end the exhaust. http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/parts/15658_lg.jpg.

Im a bit worried that the center 3 inch pipe is going to kill flow to much. ( Going from dual 3 inch to a singel )

As I dont have a good exhaust builder around the corner where I live I would like to keep it simple.

Hope you can guide me.

I believe stock Corvette exhaust dimensions are 2.25 inches from the rear Y-pipe to the mufflers. Where the Y's connect I think is 3". This seems reasonable for stock pipes. If the Magnaflow Y goes into a single 3", then that's the correct diameter.

In any case, just removing the Cats between your front & rear Y-pipe and just fitting a regular 3" straight pipe will already increase exhaust gas flow. So, I doubt if your worries about flow restrictions would be an issue. Besides, SOME restriction in exhaust flow is desirable because that normally creates more torque in your engine's power curve. No restriction at all will maximize horespower at high RPM but at the expense of torque.

The specs on my '87 are as follows: Quote:
ENGINE, EXHAUST SYSTEM:
  • Type: Dual
  • Muffler number and type: Two, reverse flow (stainless steel body, aluminum-coated steel inlet and outlets)
  • Resonator number and type: None
  • Exhaust pipe branch o.d. & wall thickness: Outer pipe 2.50" x .038", inner pipe 2.25" x .038"
  • Exhaust pipe main o.d. & wall thickness: 3.0" x .072"
  • Exhaust pipe material: Aluminum-coated steel
  • Tailpipe o.d. & wall thickness: Dual outlets, 2.25" x .072"
  • Tailpipe material: Aluminum-coated steel
Michael Antonick's book, Cor-Vette Specs, C4 1984-1996 has all you ever wanted to know about your Corvette. :CAC

Ken, is there a web page with similar 95 LT-1 Coupe specs??? Would be so good & handy if I had something like that.
