I had my acuator motor (driver's side) replaced a couple of month's ago....now I experience the headlamp pops up halfway and stops, or sometimes not at all. When I raise it manually it almost always will go down normally. It does occassionally act normal. This old age is a son of a gun. Can it be some wiring problem?;help

Eyeballs

Hi, I had problems with the headlights on my 88, changed the switch, changed the module, [there is no relay on an 88], turned out to be $5.00 bushings in the R.H. actuator causing the headlights to operate immproperly, both of them. Replacing the bushings wasn't very hard at all. Are your actuators loud, noisey, do they growl ? Suspect the bushings first.

Yes Sir, I went through that two months ago....that's why I thought I missed something in the process. This '93 Conv has been maintained very well. Can't rely on Dealers always to advise you properly. The last one wanted $700 to remove and replace the headlamp motors. I replaced the "innards" for $50.
Its smooth in its revolutions, before it floped around, now moves quickly to a half point, when opening, or not at all. Thanks for your reply.

I replaced the bushings in my car awhile back. I learned first hand that unless you replace the washers exactly where you found them, it will bind, or click, or stop half-way. The washers must be put back exactly where you found them or this will happen.

Well Five-O,

I hope that's my problem. I'm not real sure about the washers, heck it all looked pretty good. It worked fine for a couple or three weeks. I'm going to have to take it to a dealer to see what it is and let them have their pound of flesh or money, whatever it takes. Thanks for sharing your experience.
