What is everyone's favorite info to display on the HUD as you are driving?

I prefer to have the speed and oil pressure myself.

Love to hear what you like.

I usually have the speed and fuel displayed . The tach makes it too cluttered to suit me .

Speed, tach, and fuel for me......

but 4500 miles later and I still find myself using the dash gauges when I'm letting the vette run. Seems like whenever I'm really running her through the twisties or high end, I automatically use the dash tach. :duh
How about the rest of you guys.......used affectionately for the vette girls here too..... do you find yourself reverting to the dash gauges too or have you programmed yourself to use the HUD during the addrenaline rush times?

Brett

I have the speed, fuel and tach displayed. I am breaking the habit of looking at the dash for those things, but it will take a while – occasionally I'll catch myself looking at the dash first.

I have every possible thing displayed in the HUD. Usually oil pressure, sometimes fuel remaining, tach, mph. The more info the better.
And I don't remember the last time I looked at the dash 1st :)

Yes Brett , I do look at the dash alot . I drive my other car more than the Vette and of course it doesn't have hud . Cliff

Mostly I just have the speed displayed, that seems to be my major concern..:Roll :Steer

I tried several configurations, for me I have the tach and speed only. The tach on the HUD is fairly useless, but it frames the speed nicely, and allows my eye to go right to it without searching when I have the display turned down low, particularly in bright sunlight. I found the HUD to be very useful in moderate to heavy traffic moving at higher speeds. One never has to move their eyes inside. :Steer

Speed,Tach and Fuel guage. I very rarely look at the guages anymore, unless I'm running it hard through the gears and then I watch ONLY the tach on the dash.. I wish my 81 had HUD. :w :CAC

Speaking of HUD,
Quiz time: How many have seen and know where the "2" is located for the speed when we hit 200mph (or 200kph) on the HUD?
I can post a pic as followup in a little bit.

Hmmmm, good question. I guess one of thses days I'll have to see just how it's displayed.:Steer :j 200 MPH!

I was a round-dial flyer for the most part (weapons employment aside) in the F-16, which has a great HUD, and I guess I'm a round-dial driver as well. I usually have speed, tach, and gas up but tend to use the gauges more than the HUD. Old habits die hard.

Ok , so at 200mph who has the nerve to look down and find the little 2 on the HUD.

Well, the way I see it, (no pun intended :duh ) a properly adjusted HUD should be comfortably seen at any speed, that's the whole idea behind HUDs.
The technology came from fighter aircraft that regularly exceed mach 1 - 1.5 at low levels (low for them), I used HUDs with night vision goggles for several years when I was still on active duty, the display was in one eyepiece and somehow the brain just interprets the info. This system was much different than the AH-64 system, for those who may be familiar with that one.
