{For Sale}1987 Yellow B2K

" 1987 Callaway twin turbo conv, yellow, auto, loaded, 32K, over $70K invested BEST Ofr 631-774-8834 ... "

Looks like this one is near NYC...
Pete - wanna check this one out??
(I would be real curious what # car this is, as it say's "Auto" transmission and there were only 2 auto's for 87 and one of them was #188- that had a "flat hood" w/out NACA ducts- as it was a direct conversion done, in 89)

Hi

By that phone # it's on long lsland, New York.

The car must be snowed in until the end of the week.

Any links or pics? There were only 4 yellow TT convertibles in '87.

Callaway used to sell a kit to do the twin turbo conversion yourself (i think they promoted a skilled mechanic though), so this could be one of those cars... I am pretty sure I still have the brochure Callway sent us back in '87 explaining the kit as well as the Callaway install.

I'd be really intererested in learning more about the Twin Turbo kit. I had heard that only one setup was sold without being installed on a car by Callaway. That was a setup for an '87 with the IHI turbos and recently sold on eBay for around $3000. Unfortunately to someone who thinks he's going to put it on a TPI Camaro. That ought to work great... not.

Thats sad....ignorance knows no bounds I guess. He's gonna put a $3k turbo kit on a $3k car :eyerole

I really don't know the numbers of 'kit' sales, I know Callway was promoting the kit though... at least back in '87. Does anyone else have that package Callaway sent out to '87 owners? I have it, but it is boxed up with stuff at my parents house, and I won't be to their place for a few weeks. If no one else has it, I can scan it in if anyone wants to see it.

I bought the Callaway kit

So I am the ignorant one you say:eyerole I know the value of what I bought. I'm gonna put a nice $3K steel cage (86 Trans Am) around my $12k engine. Unlike a B2K, I can drive it daily and not have to worry about messing up a rare aerobody.
The kit I bought is a mix of different year parts and probably wasn't sold as a kit from Callaway. However, everything does appear new.
FYI: GM built a prototype TT TA and called it a Firefox http://www.skulte.com/other.html

Merrick - We were discussing this a few weeks ago and are all quite curious how you plan on ducting the air from the filter to the two turbo's.

It does seem like an awfully large task to fit this "kit" to a F body (as I have one, and do not see how it would possibly work)
Please keep us posted and provide pics as when you do get it up and running, I would be interested in seeing it.

BTW, what engine is this thing going on (and what are the specs such as compression , intake, etc)

Good luck :beer *89x2*

I have too many unfinished projects around the house, so the TT is on hold. I don't consider the filter ducting to be a problem yet, but I probably won't use any of the Callaway ducting parts. I am still gathering info to come up with a master plan. Any recommendations are welcomed

Brochure

Hi Bob,

I believe the brouchure you are speaking of was an upgrade to the 1988 standard. I have a copy here myself. I do not or ever heard that they offered a full kit to be installed outside Callaway during that time period. It would have killed their 1988-1991 conversions.

The 1988 upgrade could be installed by any good tech exposured to turbos and their operations. Full conversion was more than the update and cost more. I seem to remember the cost of this package was around 10k.

Take care,
Stan

From what I remember the brochure states you could have your own mechanic do the work.... This is the one that has a callaway with a 'taller' front bumper. Basically, the area below the fog lights was extended downward, to make a very large flat area under them. I think that car was pretty ugly... it is the only one I have seen like it. I won't be able to get to my stash of Corvette books for another week and a half, but when I do, I will scan and post so everyone can look.

Brouchure

The one I have if I remember correctly is in black ink. No fancy cover but its been 10 years since I have seen it.

Please post that when its convenient.

Take care,
Stan:) :)
