C3-coupe/MercedesBenz-540K replica! Racing-SB-V8!
-pre-'81 C3's had Castiron/Exhaust-manifolds (bolted-up without gaskets to promote heat transfer into water-cooled/block), and '81's-on had fabricated Stainless-steel/Exh.-manifolds, --both of which propagate a tremendous amount of heat, which is antithetic to the surrounding engine-bay environment. Was just at a small local Fri.-evening Rod-gathering looking over an ultra-Rad 1,100-lb.(lighter than some Harley's) "BossHoss"-motorcycle running a longitudinal 350ciVetteV8(aluminum-heads & intake running a simple AFB-carb., elec.waterpump) with 2-speed modified Powerglide +reverse, which does 1-60 in 1.4-sec., and 0-100 in 4-sec.; and when owner blips the throttle from 800-rpm idle, the bike leans toward the right-- fabulous machine!!! Anyway, I've digressed, --asked Frank(its owner) how he keeps from burning his leg-calfs on the L&R-Exh.manifolds, --he said go ahead and touch'em (while engine running)--- the center-two never go above 220*f, -the front&rears never over 175*f (water boils at 212*f)!!! Seems are steel-headers coated inside&out with a bright aluminum-ceramic (spaceage development, -said to last forever)!!! Thus, the perfect solution for a C3-vette, --and I am thinking some smart entrepreneur would market the whole exhaust-system thus coated back to the Cat.converter, --thereby virtually eliminating the problematical heat-factor on these models; -plus the reduction of heat-propagation results in greater power output to boot!. Just a hint, --one will have to check around to find a competent ceramic-coating company catering to rodders... ~Bob vH
:mad :r :bu

-Note: Maybe the L&R/Exh.manifolds of this type are available from Performance-dealers, --but the critical factor here is that they be coated "inside" not just for looks on the outside!! Plus, am suggesting that the Header-pipes also be so treated inside as to eliminate the hot interior-hump syndrome that so many complain about in the summer...
:duh :dance

Isn't this the same as ceramic coated headers that all the performance shops sell ?
