Question: G44 option?

Hi everyone,
wanted to ask anyone who hasthe G44 (I think it is?) 3.07 rear gears option that was available on LT1 equipped Vettes, was this a 6 speed only or could it be had with auto. trans? the reason I ask is I'm curious as to the "feel" of the 3.07 rear gears with the LT1 auto. vs. the 2.59s which my '92 Vette came with? My '84 has 3.07s and it feels a little more punchy off the line, but my '92 definitely gets better gas mileage not complaining just wondering Thanks

G44 was only available with the automatic trans.

The rear gears for six-speed cars were generally 3.45s though there were a few 3.54s in 1989.

For a 92, the difference in acceleration between 2.59 and 3.07 will be significant. There is a decrease in gas mileage but it's not a great deal. Comparing the 84 to the 92 is difficult because, regardless of the axle ratio, the 92 LT1 probably gets better mileage than the 84 L83.

I can't compare the 2.59 to the 3.07's as I can't say I've driven a 2.59 car. But my 94 (almost stock) and 3.07 gears has a good pull (feel) off the line. I can also say that at about 75mph is the "sweet spot" for gas mileage.

My 94 has LT1/ auto w/ 3.07s. It feels pretty good on acceleration. It ran a 13.75 @ 101mph in the 1/4mi. (100% stock w/ 105,000 mi. on it.):blue:

Just curious, do you have your ET/MPH at the 1/8th mark?

I ran it 5x last spring. (May) Air temp was 80*-90*.

1st 2 runs were right off the street. Water temp was 230*. All runs after that were 190* or below.
