After waiting over a month to have my Corvette delivered, when it finally showed up the windshield was broken. When I called the company's manager he claimed it was like that when they picked it up, which I know is not correct since I say the car in person when I bought it. Anyone have suggestions as what to do?

Have you paid for the shipping? If so, did you pay with a credit card? File a claim with your credit card company. If you have not paid for shipping, deduct the ammount for the replacement of the windshield. Look the car over closley for any other damage/missing pieces/parts. Check the oil, the engine compression, clutch condition, etc. I sold two mid year's a while back, and when they arrived to the new owner there were many things broken and missing. The transporters had driven these "hard", broke the windshield of one, knocked off the oil drain plug(lost all oil) then wanted more $'s for the leakage onto the other cars on the truck---- New owner(who arranged the shipping), ended up with "free" shipping as the total damages were about equal to the bill.

I had a 78 Silver Anni shipped from Madison,WI to Atlanta with Able Auto Transport Inc. just 3 months ago. Had no troubles at all. Made a small deposit and COD when I picked it up. Orig owner took picks of car and Email to me. Transport company had the seller sign a form indicating all scratches, dents, broken glass etc and I verified and sign-off on delivery.

Found Able on the internet.

Sorry you got your car in such a mess- that is unacceptable. Something went wrong somewhere in the process.

Good luck- Sully

Any reputable transporter does an inspection of the car before loading it and has the shipper sign the inspection sheet to verify its condition when it left, so there's no argument about any in-transit damage when it arrives at its destination, where the receiving party inspects it again and signs the sheet, and gets a copy.

You get what you pay for in car shipping - DON'T use a "broker", as you never know who they'll send or what kind of equipment he'll use or what reputation he has. Deal direct with a reputable transporter (Reliable, Intercity, Passport, Horseless Carriage, etc.) and you won't have to worry about it. Look at what your car is worth - what's a couple hundred bucks difference between a professional enclosed carrier and Unknown Ronnie Redneck and his Open Rusty Rig? :eyerole

yes had my 70Z28/RS shipped to Cal. i thouhgt the guy put it a little close to the nose of his trailer when he loaded it, it rubbed on the winch all the way there, the new owner was ****ed i had took pics of it as it was loaded, i happened to take a nice shot of the front before it was loaded, it didnt show the marks on it, the guy had to fix it, over 1,500 bucks worth, file a claim with the company

I just sold a 72 Skylark Convertible to a guy in Texas. The transport comapny he hired went over the car with me (45 minutes) a ding and dent sheet you might call it and made me sign it so there were no mis-understanings on the other end

I used Passport Transport two weeks ago to ship my car to Alabama from New York, no problems at all, great service in their office and from the driver. They used the scratch/dent form and everything was correct, I would highly recommend them.

I had mine shipped from Oregon with DAS (Dependable auto shippers). I was very pleased with the courtesy, professionalism, and the time it took to be delivered. The only thing I made sure of was that my car was on top of the carrier, and that cost an extra $100.00, but was well worth it in my opinion.
I wasn't too happy with the clowns that received my car though (the garage they dropped it off at).
