I've been looking over the threads that have appeared recently in this section & I've noticed that neither Adam Boca nor any of the other people from the museum are posting here anymore.
Rob is our ambassador to the NCM so a great deal of the information from the NCM can be delivered to our membership through him. The question that I have is why isn't anyone from the museum posting here?

Well, all I can tell you is the answer that I received when I asked the same question a year ago. I was told that the NCM staff is very busy (which they are), and they don't have time to post on every single Corvette web site.

When I pointed out that we are the second largest set of Corvette forums on the web behind the CF and that I see staff reguarly posting on other forum web sites with much less traffic, we were suddenly labeled as being "non-supportive of the NCM".

I gave up asking questions based upon this. I may not agree with all aspects of the NCM, but regardless I will continue to support the NCM when *I* have time because I firmly believe, as always, in its purpose and what it stands for.

Overlooked or forgotten - NOT!

The NCM tries to keep up with every forum via their ambassadors and employees. If questions come up about the NCM here or any forum, an ambassador will more than likely jump in with answers or directions.

The NCM has a mailing list that it posts to regularly. Check out this link .

To keep up with what's happening at the NCM, you can use the NCM's mailing list and/or their website.

It only makes sense for the NCM to do this rather than try to post on every Corvette related forum. Just imagine the amount of time it would take if you were on every Corvette forum and were expected to post something every day/week.

For questions about the NCM - go to the source -- ask the NCM directly. They have their email addresses on their website. I always get a response to my emails.

Have a great day

The Corvette Museum is just what it's name implies . They rum a museum and they do it well ! Noone has the right to expect them to be regulars on any forums . It's nice when they do post here but it's not necessary . If they have the museum filled and looking good when I get there , then thats enough for me . Cliff

I'm one of those who strongly support the Museum. My wife and I are lifetime members.......typically visit the Museum 4-5 times a year...help out at their weekend events, buy and sell raffle tickets, etc.

Am also an NCM Ambassador for our local club, America's Corvette Club, and another internet forum.

I don't want to step on Rob's toes, but am willing to help any of you with questions about the Museum. Part of an Ambassador's responsibilities is to provide feedback to the Museum from it's members. Let me know if I can help...thanks!

You are sending in donations aren't you?

I've actually stopped sending in any donations until the museum produces a report of how they're spending my money. Once I am satisfied that the money is going where it should I'll be happy to contribute again. But for right now the bank is closed.

Yea, where does all that money go?

If enough NCM members ask for this type of information, then the NCM will probably have to include it in their monthly magazine or create an annual report like most publically owned companies do. If you really need/want this type of information, ask the NCM to include it in their magazine on a regular basis.

If you donated money specifically for a project like the Land Campaign or the Building Fund or whatever, you can be assured that it will be used for that. General donations and membership funds are used for anything and everything.

Asking for it here isn't going to get you anything except a change to vent.

If you think you can run the NCM better, I'm sure Wendell and the Board of Directors would like to hear from you directly.

Interesting, so they don't already volunteer/reveal that info?
Very interesting.:D

Apparently their current tax exempt status doesn't require them to do so. But if you'd like to find out go to the IRS website & download form 4506-A. Fill it out & submit it. You can get copies of all of the NCM's tax returns on CD, or paper copies if you desire.

I was a Charter Member, then upgraded to a Life Member. I go there at least twice a year. I've given my share of money to help. I upgraded personnaly at the museum. I paid cash, all excited. There was no fanfare at all. I was treated like I bought a 10 dollar hat!!!!!!!!! There should have been a representative at least thank me. It was so anticlimactic and matter of fact like. :(

That will be the extent of my "donations" for awhile.

When I joined, I was told that I would get invited to all the special events. I was, but one of them said I had to give an additional $1,000 in order to go??????? I've gotten others similar to that.

I thought that was bull***t. I was very excited when I got the invite until I read that. It just blew my mind that they would have the guts to ask for more? Do they realize how much of a commitement it means for someone to actually part with $1,500 to be a member of anything?

I'll still go to the museum, I'll still purchase from the store, but I won't "donate" there anymore.

Chuck

Wow... I didn't realize that you are expected to contribute nearly the same amount as you did to upgrade your membership to attend these special events. That's a lot of money! Why do they want you to contribute even more money for a free event? If you want to contribute more money that should be your choice, as should the amount that you want to give.

It was one of the Corvette Hall of Fame awards. The invite stated that as a Life Member, I could attend. Heck, I was ready to call the travel bureau.

Then it stated:

To secure your spot at this special event, please send your donation of $1,000.

It made me sick and just about knocked me off my feet.

Then my mood changed from disgust to anger.

So they can send their requests for more money for land and a bigger building to someone else. I'm done.

Chuck

I forgot to mention that when I upgraded, I was attending a meeting in Greensboro, NC and drove all the way to Bowling Green KY and had to be back the next afternoon for the rest of the meeting. I felt like such a putts after the upgrade. I felt cheated!!

The only event I have ever seen put on by the NCM that required a $1000 entry fee was the Dale Earnhardt Legends Road Trip. Are you by chance referring to this event?

The DE Legends road tour was limited to 100 Corvettes and the first 90 slots were open to Lifetime members only. After the first 90 cars were selected, it was opened up to other NCM members. It required the $1000 up front to secure your place in the event.

As you can imagine, anything dealing with Dale Earnhardt and DEI would have a massive turnout if it was open to everyone and at a budget price. The cost had to cover the planning, police escorts, special event license plates from the State of Kentucky, access to DEI and all the other places on the tour. It was one hellofa road trip.

I've never felt cheated by the NCM and I never expected them to roll out the red carpet and the marching band for me when I became a Lifetime member either.

Now if I was to donate enough money to the NCM for them to complete the building expansion, then I might have a reason to expect something more.

The Hall of Fame dinners have always cost Lifers and other members something - $45 is memory serves. $55 for none members.

Some events at the NCM require an entry fee for members - even Lifers. The only NCM event that I know of that has ever included a $1000 fee was the DE Legends trip.

Chuck, I think you need to place a call to the NCM and have a talk with someone there about your issues with them. 1-800-53-VETTE. Stephanie is the membership director. You might want to ask for Wendell. I know they would rather hear from you directly rather than hear about this second hand.

That's all,
Have a nice day.

It wasn't for a road tour. I don't remember it being a part of DEI.

It was for a dinner. I'll try to look for the invite if I didn't throw it away. It was a few years ago.

I didn't ask for the red carpet or a marching band and never stated that!!! Just a little more than the change back when I give 1,400 in cash (the upgrade) to become a Life Member.

It just goes to show you that just saying thankyou and a smile can go a long way. The lady at the cash actually said "NEXT". Nice huh?

Chuck
Lifetime Member #4125

I emailed Stephanie about this when it happened.

It's obvious that you didn't get satisfaction about this back then and you still have a bone to pick with the NCM.

I'm sorry.

I still think you need to call the NCM and talk with them again.

I'm just trying to make sure that the NCM is not being misrepresentated and that something is being done to address your concerns.
