Question: Heating & Air Conditioning

Hello guys. I'm about ready to start in on my heating & air conditioning system. Are there any good articles or papers out there for troubleshooting the system?

What are you wanting to do? Is the HVAC system working now? Do you have heat and cool when you want heat and cool?

Well. I really need to figure out what's going on. First, air only blows from the bottom vents and not the 4 dash vents. The PO included a compressor and dryer with the sale of the car and stated that he never had a chance to install. So, I guess I'm looking for some documentation on how the system works and troubleshooting guide.

I have the AIM, shop manual, Chilton's & Haynes repair manual. Is the service manual different from these?
