I am not an actuall new member. I got a new home computer and the site wouldn't let me change my account to be able to post questions from here. Anyway to my question...

KEN: I noticed that in the "jacking points" links that you posted there wasn't much about the pro's and con's of jacking from the diff. I read in the service manual that this is not a good thing to do. Can I jack the car up on the diff or not?

on mine the exhaust is in the wayof placing the jack directly on the diff case... but all the vehicle weight (or rather the weight of the rear of the vehicle goes through the diff pretty much.. I mean the spring is mounted to the center of it.. I usually jack mine up from one fo the lower controll arm brackets and have yet to damage one.. just my opinion and .02..

What was your other username? If you have problems logging into the forums, just use the contact us link at the bottom of any site page and let us know. We can help you out.

96hollyLT4... Whew, too much to type! :L

I know the service manual shows the rear jacking points to use are the ones under your rocker panels, but I've been lifting mine for years by placing the floor jack under the third member and raising the entire rear end of the car at once. I have encountered no adverse effects, and I don't recall ever seeing any as a result of lifting from the rear differential. Of course, that's just my experience. ;)

3rd member?

I am going to assume that "3rd member" is the diff. Thanks for the replies. It sure seems to be a safe bet but thought that the question should be asked.

Yes 96hollyL..... is a long name to type. My original screen name is just 96holly. I am going to email rob to eliminate this new one.
