Just bought a "96 LT4 last week. First Vette I have had since the late '70s when I had a '63 vert.

I love this car and the passion it seems to generate in the Corvette community. I feel very lucky to have been in the right place at the right time to get to near perfect car.

Hope y'all will welcome me to your forum and allow some stupid questions to be asked when they come up.

One off the batt is the real HP of an Lt4...I have heard and read..(maybe here..?) anything from 350 to 380. I plan to have mine dyno'ed just to see.

If anyones interested here are some links to a few pics.

Welcome Krash. I bought a 96 LT4 Vert last Oct. Before buying, I learned a great deal from this forum on how to choose a Vette. I had a thousand questions and all were addressed here. This is a great place to learn about and enjoy Vettes. Don't hold back with any question, and again, Welcome!

Hey There!

Welcome to the CAC! Lots of info here, and hundreds of great folks!

Krash,

Welcome to the Corvette Action Center...and congratulations on your new LT4!! Very pretty car! To answer your question, the LT4 has 330 hp. Keep asking away...no question is silly!

Welcome! You made an excellent choice in vettes. Although I have looked at some of the C5 models since buying my LT4, I simply cannot bear the thought of trading it for another. I will have to wait until I can afford two vettes before going after a C5 or C6 (or maybe a mid year...or maybe....)
Bring on the questions!

Welcome!

Krash,

Welcome to the CAC. Very nice shots of your LT4. Your car looks like it’s in great condition and the engine compartment is especially nice.

Thanks for sharing the photos.

Welcome to the :CAC Great looking Vette!! You will find friendly people on this website that don't think any question is "stupid"; so, ask away...

Very impressive vehicle and I love the color. I shopped on the internet for months for a vehicle and finally found the PERFECT one. It was a silver coupe with every option I was looking for. I rented a one way rental car (cool car; PT cruiser) and headed for the dealership to test drive and buy this vehicle. I saw the red one when I arrived and my search was over. Looking at cars on a computer monitor is NOT the same as viewing them in person.

Nice view of arlington stadium in the background too. Enjoy your car.

Thank you all for the warm welcome..:D

Sid are you from DFW area.?..or just a big baseball fan? I thought that might make a nice backdrop....turned out well I think.

I live in Arlington and am thinking about joining a Vette club...but not sure which one...any suggestions?

Oh and I know GM lists the HP at 330..but I read somewhere that they rated them to low so as not to overshadow the C5 LS1 coming out the next year...anyone know if there is any truth to that?

Beautiful car Krash,

I almost traded my LT4 in on a new C5, but for the relative cost of a used LT4 vs. performance and the fact that the LT4 should hold its value better than a base C5, I decided against it(but boy was I drooling over the Z06!). Enjoy your car!.

Welcome,

I already asked all the dumb questions, so don't worry.

Factory ratings are 330hp/340tq.

Be careful, I spun mine a week ago & was lucky - no damage.

Leave asr ON for casual driving.

I live in Tyler, but I grew up close to the metroplex, so I am somewhat famaliar. I am not a member of a club simply because Dallas is so far away from where I live. There is not a club in the Tyler area. I would bet that someone around here would know about a dfw club.

Welcome Krash, you'll love the LT4. To answer your question, Gm rated the LT4 at 330 hp. However, the vast majority of stock LT4s dyno at ~295rwhp, which equals about 345 hp. The LS1 being released in the C5 in 97 had about the same hp, GM under-rated the LT4 for obvious reasons.

Krash-

Welcome to CAC. I too have an LT4 love the car and being here in So Cal. have plenty of time to have the top off. I am sure you will find the people here most helpful and a wealth of information.

Krash, i am a recent newbie to the LT-4 crowd and I have asked a few dumb questions too. These guys and gals are always glad to offer their experiences. This is a great forum.;worship

Welcome Krash!

I too recently purchased an LT4 and enjoy it every time I drive it. There are two Corvette clubs in the area that I know of. One is Lone Star Corvettes out of Plano - their activities span the metroplex, and Cowtown Corvettes out of Fort Worth. Both have websites, so check them out when you have time.
