Hello all! Just wanted to say, I love this site! I bought my Callaway almost a year ago now, and I have been searching for people like me... this car is more rare than I realized! Anyway, I'm off to Auburn, IN today for the auction there. I have read that some of you might be there. Sadly (or maybe hapily) I won't have my car there this year. I brought it last year just a month after I had bought it in hopes of selling it. I had seen it as a chance to make some money and when I lost my job shortly after the purchase, it seemed like the thing to do. Well, I got an even better job and now I am SOOO glad that I didn't sell it.

I did have a couple questions for all of you out there. What do you think a 92 Supernatural 400 is worth? No Aerobody, but every other option is on it. Plus a VERY nice stereo system, XM radio, in dash radar detector, etc. Strike against it are that it has almost 100,000 miles, however it was brought to Callaway with about 46,000 on it.

Second, how do you all recommend finding someone you can trust to do work on it or inspect things? I use quite a bit of oil (about 1Qt every 1000 miles or so). Some people have told me that cars "like this" will use oil and that is just how they operate. Other people have told me that something isn't right. What do you think?

Sorry for the long first message, but I certainly don't intend to be a mooch on this forum!

First off welcome to the :CAC. Personally I can't help you with your oil useage problem, but this is deffinetly the forum that you'll get an answer from. I'm also going to Auburn this weekend. Not planning on buying anything but still excited about it!

Thanks for the welcome! Look forward to meeting people here.

Are you seeing a puff of smoke at start up ? or are you seeing smoke while driving ? or no smoke at all ?

The first would indicate bad valve seal (common), the second would indicate worn rings.

Some engines can consume oil, depending on the tolerances between pistons and rings at the time of the build, but this is not common on a callaway built engine.

Welcome to the :CAC

I agree w/ 8388 - I would also sheck all your sensors at the pan to ensure they are not leaking, front & rr seals and intake seals...
1qt / 1,000 mi of oil isn't a ton but I can understand your concern

I think I may recall seeing your SNAT when it was for sale (the ad)

Enjoy your Callaway & this forum :m

Hey, thanks everyone for you help and welcomes. I'm up for an oil change here soon, so I'll be bringing it to a Corvette specialist I think I can trust to give me some honest answers. I'll have them look into the suggestions you all had.
