Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

Hello from St Louis

Welcome to the group. I had a '72 big block that I drove for 27 years. I miss that one a lot. Have fun with your project.

Welcome to the Forum. :w
I look forward to seeing your progress.
BTW some of the best work comes from using a BFH properly.

Welcome to CAC!!! enjoy!!

Welcome to Corvette Action Center

For several weeks, I scoured the internet for the right car for me. My criteria were...

  • C3 generation corvette because that is by far my favorite body style... I really like their sexy curvy look and believe the models from '84 to current have body lines that are mostly too straight and boring in appearance
  • '68 - '73 model year because I wanted true dual exhaust, no catalytic converter. The '74 model year also qualifies but I don't like the way the split rear bumper looks.

First let me welcome you to the group we're glad you've joined us.

Secondly a frame off restoration was a passion for me when I retired and among my favorites and I have many would be the 1972 LT-1 the last year for the chrome bumper front and year and the LT-1 because of the engine, etc. would had to have a standard 4-speed transmission for sure. At any rate love the curves, lines too this C-3 generation has, again I love all Corvettes just some better than others, they all have their own personalities I think :cool!: But due to some health issues for the past four or so years (Parkinsons) it was just not meant to be, and have somewhat lost the passion and the energy, strength and just plain old get up and go to do a frame off. I have had a C-5 since 2002, few other Vettes throughout the years, and absolutely love it, coupe, black, 6-speed standard transmission, there is times when a automatic would have been nicer in heavy traffic but 95% of the time I just love going through the gears, especially a 6-speed, must be a control thing :L If you haven't ever got back and looked at the curves and lines the C-5 has you're really missing something, look over and through the hood, top if it's a coupe and the waterfall between the seats on a roadster, and right through the rear glass, amazing lines it has, Well designed and thought out, then you add up the options coming on line when the C-5 was introduced, 2000 I think was the first year for HUD Heads Up Display; if I'm not mistaken:thumb So I am content with taking care of it and driving it and yes sometimes I just look at it like I have my right mind, some may even question that :happyanim:Wish I had the energy to do it but not going to happen, really don't have a big heartache with it, just always on my list of things to do, so move on to the things I can do no since of crying over spilled milk :beer still cold. Good luck to you and your progress will be interesting if you get the time to let us know how it's going.

I just keep in mind daily that there is always others out there worse than I so I count all the blessings I have, and still have many!! We must live every second of everyday of every week of every month of every year now because none of us are promised any tomorrows. MAY GOD BLESS THE UNITED STATES of AMERICA and The MEN and WOMEN of our MILITARY who protect it all 24/7. . . . LET THEM KNOW THEY ARE APPRECIATED and WE WILL NOT FORGET!!

-Bill
